no spark on l1 t1
 

Well i finally swap to 4 trailing coils and now im having another problem, the cars seams as if is breaking up from 3000 rpm to 5000 rpm but once it goes in to boost it responds fine, could it be just tunning. Also i removed the spark plugs and the front trailing and leading are way darker than the rear, so i decide to check for ignition and hookup the timing light to all spark plug wires and i get the timing light to get signal from l2 and t2 but the light doesnt flash on l1 or t1, but when i removed the wires from the coils there is spark on the coils, so i decide to check the spark plug wires and there is spark to all 4 spark plugs but i still dont get the timing light to flash on l1 or t1, i swap cas and still no flash on the timing light, also with the ignition on i get 12 volts on negative and positive side of the coils, shouldnt the negative side signal from the x4 box to the coils flashing signal. This is a lt10s with x4 box

normal for both sides of the coil to read 12V when you multi them,, dont ask for the detailed answer,, thats how they work,, and youve just made the path to earth for them with the probe

ie,, the magnetic field collapses and the coil fires when you BREAK the path to earth for the negative post


as for the lack of spark on the timing light,, this is sometimes normal for some ignition systems with inductive pickup light
though usually for those with twin post coils ,, as one of those posts will be in opposite polarity
also "dial back" timing light setting must be on ZERO !

you may need a cheap,, non inductive timing light to verify its all happy and working OK
( these produce a weak, smudged light that may need darkness to see accurately ,, measure from the start of the smudge )

Thanks , i went out and bought a tester that goes in between the spark plug wires and the spark plugs and it shows that i have spark in all 4 plugs, i guess since i switch coils i have to get the car retuned.
