need to upgrade ignition. suggestions?

im runing an ltx-8. i need to upgrade my ignition due to break-up past 9psi.

im a bit on a budget, but i can compromise.
also, from what i understand the ltx series ecu has the ignitors built in, correct? well my trailing STILL dont fire and im starting to believe that the ignitors are toast.:wallbash: is there any way i can bypass the ecu's ignitors to get my trailing to fire? :dunno:
i need this figured out in the next few weeks cause i cant deal with my shitty mileage and less than optimal performance when i leave for college.

With no questions asked ignore the trailing completely as their are only small gains having it and get your self some CRANE HI-6 6440 Boxes and lx92 coil packs. i found them cheap at summitracing.com and delivery time is fast.

MOST POWERFUL SPARK YOU WILL EVER SEE I GURANTEE THAT.
If you want your trailing to work change the ignitors. if you dont know how to check if your ignitors are toast pm me and ill run you through it. if you search i have posted it some were here before.

also, gas mileage is a concern. ill be driving 60 miles a day to school and back. how much will the crane system help?

one box per leading coil.

Yes they are the correct items.

so 2 of each.

dean23 08-05-08 05:05 PM

what other options do i have?

rx72c 08-06-08 04:38 AM

Ive used m&w.
rubbish in comparison to the crane boxes in my experience.
seen some people use msd.

but personally havnt seen any cdi box that works as well with the microtech as the crane box.

i was also going to ask about spark plugs. ive been pretty faithful to ngk, but what else is out there? i was looking at halo plugs, but they dont have any specifically made for rx7s

rx72c 08-09-08 06:11 PM

nope

plugs to get are NGK R7420-11 if your going CDI.

Excellent plugs. RICE RACING recommended them somewere and i recently tried them on heavily boosted pump fuel WI car and they were excellent.

I've heard a lot of good things about the NGK R6725-105's too, for a slightly less cold of a plug (more highway commuting friendly), any experience with them???

rx72c 09-08-08 05:20 PM

The above plug is more a methanol drag plug. dosnt last very long. can use it if you have cdi but on the street in my experience wasnt a very good plug. hence why i changed over.

I've got two Crane boxes that I used for a couple years on my car just sitting here. Both work perfectly if you want them let me know.

 that is so true. The first time I tested the spark using this setup it actually scared the bajesus out of me. It looked like draculas claws were coming out of the spark plug and grabbing a hold of the grounding metal it was touching. That ignition setup is truly worth every peny!

how much and where are you finding the R7420-11 sparkplugs? I looked on sparkplugs.com but they didn't have them.
