Need help picking out a ECU??
 

I'm getting ready to buy all the last parts I need to complete my build. I got a GSL-SE 13b with a oldschool Cartech turbo setup. I'll be using a TO4E 60-1. I'm planning on swapping out the distributor with a CAS and seperater coils to control ignition. Since I only have two spots for injectors on the motor i'll be using 1000cc. I need help on what ECU to get? I know this forum is microtech, but if anybody who has experience with haltech and microtech can put in word that would be cool. I'm thinking the LT-4/LT-8 or some of the older haltechs? Which microtech would you guys recommend for this setup?

Thanks for replying :lol:. I understand. It's just I know people running both and just trying to figue out the best ecu for my setup. I've always leaned more towards microtech.

honestly for what microtech offers nowadays compared to haltechs,apexi,etc.. you really be better off going with a older or newer haltech. it all depends on what your into.

i know if i knew what i know now i would have went with a haltech years ago

Firstly go with 195500-2020 Oval plugged FC turbo injectors for primaries. Then use a slightly modified TII intake manifold (should be nearly 100% bolt-on).

For secondaries Boch EV1 Indy white top 1600cc injectors are nearly bolt on. All you have to do is get spare denso injector pintle caps, drill out the hole in the bottom push them on. And get the top of the injector plastic machined down to ~10.4mm. Slip 2x 11mm top o-rings over the top bit.

Megasquirt2 is proven using stock standard ignition coils upto 15psi and ~7000rpm.

550+1600cc is a proven setup for 350rwhp E85 (high 10 second quarter mile on slicks) and 450rwhp premium 93 Pump fuel + water injection(high 9 /10 flat 1/4 mile on slicks).

Haltech Sprint RE and Megasquirt 3 are the next notch up of competing ECU's. MS3 is less tested but has a LOT more features.

Thanks for all the valuable infromation. The only reason I'm not bolting on T2 intake manifold is my Cartech turbo kit is such a rarity. I'm only looking for around 250-300whp. This cartech kit is one of only a handful in the country I've seen.

Since I'll only be using 2 injectors(might plunge 2 in intake manifold) what cc injectors you think I should go with??? I was recommended 1000cc. I know idle would be rich. Any input on that? Also, where can I find the correct injectors for the SE motor? I was looking at RC injectors but not sure which will work best. Thanks.

With a good ECU and injectors you'll be able to idle 1000cc injector without issue. Specifically Injector Dynamics ID1000s. Have used them as primary injectors on stock port engines running gasoline with great results. I've seen the ID2000s idling well on piston engines, so that is possible as well, though I haven't personally tried it with a rotary.
