hey guys thinking about buying myself a lt10s for xmas a present to myself lol. i have done a lot of research and have found it to be a simple task to install it myself, i would like to know how hard is it to tune. now i know they give you a base map to start off question is it a drivable map, 2nd is it easy to tune the problem is i live atleast 5hrs away from a rotary tuner and if i can do it myself i would be very pleased.

so is it easy to tune for a beginner doing a street tune.

Now I'm no expert, just ask rx72c, lol but I've heard on quite a few occations that microtech is one of the easiest standalones to tune because of it's simplicity and lack of newer features that most other ecu's have these days. Now tuning is no easy task when you first get started (believe me I'm doing this now) and if you do the wrong thing you have a potential of blowing your motor but this is the way it is with any ecu. As far as if the map is driveable it realy depends on what mods you have done to your car. If it's a basically stock tII then you should have no problem driving it around, however if it's bridgeported with huge turbo and 1600cc primary injectors etc... then no it won't be. Also before purchasing the microtech you should ask yourself what it is exactly you want to do with the car. Most street driven cars go a different route purely because of the lack of options you have with the microtech. For race use I believe the microtech is proven to be the best I, and again I believe it has alot to do with it's simplicity however what is good for one area may not be good for another. That being said there are quite a few people that have the microtech on their daily driver with good results however, there are better options out there.

You can definitely do the tune yourself.

Buy a Good AFR meter and the rest we can help you out here.

Im pretty sure i have spoken to you before about an ecu, and i did say i would be happy to load a map on your ecu(you were considering buying it off us).

Regardless whether you buy it from us or not i can still give you the map, and it will get you 75% of the way.
But you will still need an afr meter to fine tune.
And remember when street tuning. When cruising around and so on do not try pin point specific afrs at specific load points. You will be their for ever and tune wont be smooth.
Make sure you get afrs to flow and the tune will come out nice and smooth. Dyno is different but most diy guys dont have dyno.

Even on boost. Keep your afrs extra safe.

ok so how much does a AFR meter set you back. Now i assuming that afr is air fuel ratio and yes rx72c i was planning on buying it through you guys

depends apon which one you get and what it does. The ones capable of datalogging will be more expensive and to tell you the truth I wish I would have sprung for the wideband option on the microtech. That, to me, would make things much easier. I've got the zeitronix unit however which I like alot and is capable of logging all sorts of different things. You can find it at www.zietronix.com. There are many other wideband options as well.

ok i see i do understand about the air fuel ratio that they need to right so that your engine doesnt go boom and thats all i need to tune it then i need one

lol not everyone is perfect mate. we all make mistakes.

AFR isnt the only thing to worry about when tuning.

But ill give you a safe timing map, a set of safe afrs to tune to and the rest will fall into place.

Its not too difficult.

The wideband option in the lt10s isnt actually that expensive and it allows you to do datalogging, Only problem no guage. But this is fine if you have the laptop in your car its no worries. ill send you another pm.
