mtx 8 load = tps or map
I would like to know what setting to use under the LOAD screen
I C there is either MAP or TPS as options I would like to understand the working diferences between these 2 options The way i C it is that map is vacuum and TPS is on the throttle but how it works and needs to be setup is a different thing Any ideas and help needed TIA:o: |
The 13B turbo engine you have needs to be set on MAP.
DO NOT set it on TPS!!!!!!! All turbo engines need to run off MAP so the computer can read how much boost is going into the engine so it can adjust fuel accordingly. Jon |
So map is the better one
how does the map settings work on the MTx8 do you have some pointers TIA |
HELP

Jon now how do i change this to MAP I read the manual and its not to easy and i dont have a non modified basic map from microtec anymore someone saved over it by the looks of it and that could of been me  So where can i get a base map from and how will i put it back on to the ECU Lifes little surprises :D |
Ok to change back to map mode you need to go to the screen that says load=tps then press program button then up arrow and then this should say load=map then press program button and it should be right,
if it is the tps mode it will swap to map when the motor comes on boost but using the stock 13b turbo TPS it just dosent work well, here are the stock fuel settings from a 13b turbo base map http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/dheiler/fuel.jpg you can basically eliminate your ecu as being the problem as it works well on your mates car, i would be taking the injectors out and getting them cleaned and flow tested to make sure they are working, most auto electrical shops will do this, also fit a fuel pressure guage to make sure that the fuel pressure isnt dropping., if it is you will need to check the regulator or fit a bigger fuel pump. Ok I was talking with Marco @ MVA and was told he runs the cars on the TPS until Positive pressure kicks in then he has the ECU kick over to MAP. Is this the correct way or am I missing something?
|
yes that is correct,
you should not use this system unless your tps reads right accross the whole throttle position range, the stock mazda tps does not do this (only about 30% total) , so the tps-map setup will not work, this system works well for motors with big cams or ports with low vacuume at low revs |
that easy

Dale I read in the manual if its on TPS that you need to Zero the load F1 settings from 30hg to 0hg and idle F2 aswell now if i put it to MAP will this still Zero be OK or should there also be changes ?? I presume idle jet off idle midrange and main jet leave alone because they are only used with TPS :D Tanks for the help |
On my A/f when on idle or driving in boost it stay's on 18.5 why is this
if i look at my exhaust it seems to go darker now before it was more grey Is this because ....... 1:lamda sensor wrong 2:A/f not connected 3:faulty A/f reading 4:? |
here are the stock fuel settings from a 13b turbo base map
http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/dheiler/fuel.jpg Do you have the timming settings aswell ? TIA |
So in order to run a TPS/MAP set-up I would need a full range TPS from say a GM? Are there any advantages in running this setup?
|
There is no advantage in setting it up this way unless you have a seriously ported engine(bridgeport turbo minimum, not huge streetport)

changed the load from tps to map
but now she idles different more roughly than before ? any ideas I am waiting for the rain to stop then I will go for a drive and C if there is any improvement My fuel settings is way different to these ones so I will load this and c She wont go pop with this base setting ?? I never realized how big the difference is between stock (base map) and what I am running now Bit nervous but hey one step is one step I am almost finished with the lamda soldering etc so should have it up and working soon Any ideas as to why my A/F is stuck on 18.5 ? i read if not connected it should be 14.7 ?? Thanks again |
It will be idling different cause the MAP maps will be slightly richer at idle, just trim a little fuel out of the idle settings until it idles smooth,
if you maps are richer than the base maps above dont pull any fuel out of the boost maps until you have a accurate way of measuring it. DO NOT rely on the a/f ratio read out on the microtech it is narrow band and not accurate for WOT use, if you set the vacumme points the same as the ones above it should idle and drive smooth, also make sure the TPS is set correctly in the OPT screen, if this is not zero it will mess the idle up a little some units read 18.5 and some read 14.7, my LT8 on my ski boat reads 17.0 with no sensor hooked up, so dont be worried about that.
