Mt-4
Hmm was just offered a 84 GSL-SE Rex
for cheap with a Holly carb ported 12A bunch of other stuff $800 USD Now I have a spare Turbo II motor I see microtech has a Fuel Only computer the MT-4 I was thing using that for EFI duties and a FB dist for ignition How those the MT-4 compare to the Haltech F9? would it suffice for my setup? |
No. Nothing will ever work. Give the car to me. :)
Short of that, I don't know how well the stock FB ignition would work for you, being that you can't set the timing curve to compensate for boost, and the timing would be too far advanced to trust it. It'd be pretty easy to get hold of an FC CAS and some coils for cheap. That's what I'd do. :) Brandon |
Actually most of the fast drag cars
like Robert @ rotaryshack Chris Anderson =crispeed and MOST Drag Cars in PR use a F9a with a FB Dist you just lock the timing and use MSD's for added/retracted timing via Boost Like the MSD BTM So actually It might be cheaper to go the LT route LoL :) We'll see If I get the car or not I really just can handle 1 project car at a time |
Yes MT4 will work fine, they will control your fuel with out a problem!
but at the price on the group buy i would be going another LT8 and having complete control, Dale |
i don't think they use 12A dist. More like 12AT because 12AT dist has a retard timing under boost.

No sir I been in IMPORT drag racing scene since the Late 80's
maybe in australia or Japan they got access to the 12AT Dist Ask Rob.L aka 680RWHP12A what kind of Dist he uses with the F9 I have been to ALL major Import drag racing events even in PR I know for a FACT 95% of fuel only/Dist users in PR and USA use a "standered dist" |
BTW
i have one of these for sale, to suit 12a/13b fuel only. Dale |
dude just give it up, it's not gonna happen. doesn't matter what ecu you use, you're determined to break. don't fight fate. :)

You can use the MT4 and a distributor, however you will have to modify the mechanical advance in the distributor to limit the total ignition timing under boost. However you will pay for the lower timing in the driveability and response of your engine. I have found running up to 40deg off boost and as low as 8deg on boost can liven up an engine for both street and race use. However as Kabooski has said many records have been set on fuel only.
