Microtech VS PFC

Im sorry if this is being brought up again, but im starting to think the PFC has more support than Microtech

Can you more experienced tuners, tell me why i should stay with the Microtech LT-8 instead of swapping to the PFC?

Thank you.

soo.....i guess no one can defend the LT-8??

Wow missed this post. I used to run the PFC and it seemed to always have some issue. I never had a really smooth idle. It would be fine for a day or so but then at next startup it would hunt again. I seemed to have more of a stumble at transition with the PFC as well.
So far with the LT8 I've had no issues. Startsup perfectly everytime, idles perfect even with my very large street port, and transition is like butter. Not to mention the laptop interface on the Microtech makes it very easy to setup initially on your own.

I ran a PFC on my 550 hp GTR and it worked and i liked the system.
I have never run a microtech before but i have been researching it and reading reviews and i would say microtech>pfc

The pfc never seemed to respond very well to the inputs i gave it. Tuning on the dyno was sub par. We tried to richen up some of the chart and it was a waste of time. We used the map tracer to find where idle was located and we tried to fatten the fuel up around it and we didnt get the afr to budge :fawk:

having to use the commander to tune the pfc is a pita, sure you can buy the datalogic but it will cost you. The functionality of the pfc is very limited and i dont like not having the ability to plug external sensors in.

The microtech may be easier or harder to tune i dont know but i will be using the ltx12 for my next project.

Microtech exceeds PFC!

FD3S-K 08-21-06 07:40 PM

Yeah i think ill stick with mine, its just the LT-8s, my car is currently stripped and getting ready for going single, i have a question for you guys, i have no clue at all on the microtech system, what is the best compatible wideband unit for the microtech, i wanna be abel to log etc

impactwrench 08-22-06 08:57 PM

You need to order the microtech,. with the option for wideband datalogging, I believe. Check it out before you get one. I have the lt-8 and find it a breeze to tune with the laptop.

FD3S-K 08-22-06 10:01 PM

well my car came with the lt-8, how ez is it to tune, where can i get the accesories?

mcfly 08-23-06 11:03 AM

www.microtechefi.com sells everything you need i believe

I run both EMS Systems.

PFC is installed on my FC3S with large street-port, T04R HKS Turbo, with 700cc prim and 1000cc sec. injectors, Apexi 3BAR Map-sensor, large I/C. Power output was 435HP

LT8S is installed on my another FC with Street-Port, T04E HKS Turbo, 700 prim and 1000sec injectors, currently running in after rebuild (200km on the fresh engine so far, but Microtech was installed before rebuild). Power- Output was 320HP before rebuild with stock-port engine.

Both systems have some pros and few cons they is no perfect sollution in this world heh ^^ Big pro on PFC: it is very easy to setup injector transition (from primary to secondary) with no big gaps in AFR, Microtech requere more trys to get the right switching point. Microtech become more worth, when the injector size will be more different from each other, like 550 prim and 1680 secondary.
The PFC has its own OMP driver, Microtech dont. This is important for daily drivers, Drag-racers will not care about this.
PFC is able to control twin-turbo setup, microtech is for single turbo only or twins in non sequential mode.
PFC has "external" Map sensor, whis option to upgrade to 3 or 4 bar units, Microtech will come as it is with internnal map sensor. Yo need to send your ECU back or buy a new one, if you want another map sensor. But this is also only for hard-core users, as the "normal" map sensor will fit most of requerements.
PFC allow you to set-up more dynamic timings in your 20x20 map. You can put different values in each cell, while the timing setup on microtech is more linear. Setting static timing for magnetic triggers on Microtech is more worse than on PFC. S4/5 timings are moreeasy to setup with microtech, as you put +5 degs and set the static timing on and check with your timing light your cranck angle setup.

Microtech is more easy to setup for the right AFR. but Dataloging option is better on PFC with Datalogit installed. The ghost mode of the Datalogit is ideal with 2x 5V inputs and allow you more accurate fuel setup with less Dyno runs.

My next project is a Cosmo 13B engine with Apexi PFC as I want to keep the twins. I recommend to all our FC customers to go the Microtech- route, but for FD customers I allways recommend the PFC route.

For all the systems one point is equal. They must be a right application for your EMS and the right tuner to setup the system! The best system is useless whis wrong settings.

Just my 2p

im thinking of buying a L10 for my FD, we got one in a 1st gen and so far is easy, with the new harness i like it, but for FD's need to do some research if anyone help me in this issue also, thanks for the good input here

sao1 09-19-06 10:48 AM

I have used both systems. PFC on my To4R FD and a LT12s 1JZGTE. And i got to say that the Microtech was more user friendly and have better trouble shooting support than the PFC. BUT the PFC, I can really fine tune the car to my liking more than i can with the Microtech.

Both systems have its advantages and disavantages.

Im sorry, typo error, the To4R is my FRIEND's, and NOT mine:)
