Microtech tuning Q's Lt8
Ok guys i have a lt8 in a 90 turbo 2 the car backfires continually and struggles to start but always starts when engine is warmed up i think its something with my tune or timing? After the car turns on it doesnt backfire anymore? The car is streetported, super seal apex seal, pinned down, external lubrication ,460cc in primary and 1600cc in secondary the walbro255,FPR is set at 42psi @idle, t70 turbo with front mount intercooler. The car runs ok and spools very fast just have this backfiring issue that kinda started out of No where?
My second question is there anyway on the microtech dash kit that the temperature instead of reading celsius can be changed to farenheit. Now my third question is what steps do you take to set the position on the crank sensor, like where do you want to set it at when your first installed a microtech.:scratch:im kinda a rookie at this so sorry for the noob Q's |

You only have 460 primaries
|
It's probably backfiring during starting because it is too lean. Try increasing the crank settings for the low temperature area and give it a bit more fuel in the water map.
Then again, if your CAS isn't set, the timing could be way off and causing the same issue. To set the CAS, start the car and warm it up so that it is idling around 1000 RPM. Set timing lock to "on" in the Microtech and then using a timing light on the leading coil, adjust the CAS until the pointer lines up with the yellow mark on the pulley. Then snug down the CAS and turn off the timing lock. |
Thanks guys ,Thanks Aaron cake , Hey when i wasn't getting any spark in my trailing 2 was because of the confirguration was changed be accident so thats why I didn't have any spark in trailing 2,something just as simple as that!

Hey Aaron my crank pulley is a double pulley racing beat so where do i line it up ?
|
it should have the mark
|
there should be 4 marks on the pulley. Looking at it from the front of the car. the one sll the way to the left is 10atdc, the one all the way to the right is 20btdc. Timing should be 5atdc. That would be between 10atdc and 0
l l l l 10atdc 0 10btdc 20btdc ^ 5atdc |
ok so between 10atdc and 0 ok ......What kind of timing light do people usually used and i have NGK 10.2 mm wires does that affect anything ? What leading wire do i start the timing with leading 1 or 2? thanks 4 the help
|
You can use either of the leading wires.
I just use a cheap non-adjustable made in China timing light. If you have an adjustable timing light, just set it to zero. |
What injectors are you supposed to use for a microtech high impedeance or low impedeance?what cc do you recommand for my primaries so i can order some this week ? thanks

I aked this basically the same question when i was goign threw this. everyone sid it don't matter you can mix them and whatnot. so i did. havn't had any problems so. |
lol I can relate to that ^ but honestly whats the difference between low and high impedeance?
|
The Microtech doesn't care. It will drive either injector. You just shouldn't mix and match.
|
ok
