microtech and trailing coil pack
 

most people don't notice but with the stock trailing coil pack you only get spark from the leading rotor, the trailing gets nothing, ever.

but question i have is has anyone spent time and figured out why the igniter isn't compatible with the microtech and get the trailing coil to fire both front and rear rotors? it's always kind of bugged me and i've noticed it makes starting the car more difficult at times.

put down good numbers even with it like this but it's always bugged me, i just haven't gotten time to try and figure out how to get around it without swapping the coil for aftermarket units.

oh, and there should be a way to bypass the igniter completely and wire it directly to the coil packs, but last time i checked that i still wasn't getting the desired results IE both coils firing but i did not run direct power to each coil.

I have done heaps of cars with microtech and factory coils and always get spark on trailing coils. But they dont spark on crank.

If your computer isnt designed to fire a coil pack and you are trying to do so your going to cook the computer, actually you probably already have.

it's an LT8x.

just because i haven't been on the forum in a while doesn't mean i'm some 'tard or that you should talk to people like they are. the trailing rear rotor doesn't fire after running either, on any of the cars.

the stock ECU does fire all plugs, not sure why you think it only fires the leadings because that is not what i have found on cranking.

Factory coil packs dont fire trailing coils on crank AS NOTED IN THE FSM and by my experience with these cars.

So please stop debating an issue that has been discussed to death.

even if i have completely forgotten or had cars that somehow had trailing spark while cranking you haven't been of any help about the missing spark while running. but thanks for replying anyways.

well im sorry i havnt been of any help. I usually am. But arguing with people who know it all, dont need help. So good luck with it.

... the trailing coils do fire on the LT8 on cranking, ask the fucking manufacturer.

fine, the stock ECU may not fire on crank, i could go verify after i do a rebuild on this car or i can let you have that one but you ignored the other half of the question and rather turned the thread around on me somehow because of my one post on the MT4 thread, which i admit i didn't know was a fuel only ECU. but thing is see, the microtech isn't a stock ECU and if you don't believe that i only am getting 1 spark from the trailing and not the other while running, well you could always come and see for yourself and the wiring is wired up exactly as the diagram states, i have also as i said tried to wire it directly to the coils themselves bypassing the ignitor. i don't like knowing that i am only getting 3 of 4 sparks even if the cars run fine and produced on the dyno.

maybe you haven't run into the issue, but that hardly means you should go around trying to "own" people instead of helping them, even if you think you are the microtech master.

if you have a problem discerning a microtech from stock ignition firing, i don't know what to say.

Do you have the Microtech wired to the factory ignitor? The trailing coil pack requires two different voltage signals (high and low) from the trigger source for it to be able to toggle between the two coils. What you are describing is exactly what I found when developing the PFC adapter kits which is why I developed the dual ignitor coil pack how-to.

Any more on this? I just finished wiring my microtech lt8 and found this is true myself. My t2 coil is not firing but all three others are firing? SO This is correct?

i use the bosh coils and have no problems what so ever in starting
