Microtech - Runtime Error '13' Type Mismatch with laptop software
When I plug my laptop into my Microtech LT-8 using the serial port I get a connection but when I try to do something I get "Run-Time Error '13': Type Mismatch" and then the program exits. I read about trying different USB to serial connector cables (a Belkin one) and changing the Regional Settings to English US. I've tried changing the Regional setting with no success and plan on buying a cable soon but has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

yes, has had the same issue with my serial- port on my laptop. Work-arround: I have used a USB to serial-converter. I'm able to connect to my ECU with the converter but not with the serial port on my laptop.

Did you need to do anything else? I get the same message. Do you have a dongle? I keep reading about this but don't know what it is as well as loading maps. Does it work with just the software on the laptop and the connection through the USB or Serial port?
I bought a Belkin USB to Serial (model F5U109), I can see data being transferred (red and green lights flashing on USB to Serial adapter) when I start the software and connect. I set the com port to COM2 and left all the default settings for the COM port (baud rate, parity, FIFOs etc). Did you need to change any of these? What settings do you have (9600 baud, 8 bits, no parity? When I connect and don't get any error messages it leaves the blue box where it should display "Microtech Lt8" as blank. |
Software and adapter
Okay, I think I know what they mean by dongle (adapter) -

Update
I bought the dongle and plugged into the serial port of my old laptop and it worked. I also tried it with the Serial-to-USB connector on my other laptop and also worked.
Basically, you need the dongle, plugging it straight into a laptop doesn't work. |
