Microtech for my application?
this will be my setup when i am finished (currently in progress):
T04RR turbo 1600cc sencondaries streetported motor Supersound BOV FMIC (Not sure which kind yet) and i like the Microtech company i have heard everything but good things about it. So what i am asking is that which one of these will allow my car to run reliably arround 450hp. Any suggestions and reasons why? |
Sounds pretty similer to my setup, the microtech will run if no problems at all!

can i ask which one you have which model how hard was it to tune? Etc, what difficulties did you have this is a reasonably BIG choice! so if you don't mind give me all the details that you can!
|
i'm planning getting microtec also, but i don't know if i should get MTX-8 or MT8, i don't have alot of money, if i did i would have gotten my mind set on haltech. I'm 16 that work minimum wage, and i need a standalone because my 87 t2 is funky. What do you guys think i should get? which ones cheaper? which one will work with a t04 turbo, goal is 440hp and 11sec.....

What is tech help/Map availability in the US?
|
At the moment i have a MTX-8 on my mazda, soon will be a LTX-8, on my ski boat i have a LT-8,
they are very very easy to tune, the base maps supplied are very good and will allow you to start and drive you car like a stock computer. the wiring is very easy, just follow the steps and do it EXACTLY as it says and you wont have any problems, The base maps make more power and driver better than the standard computers! The difference between the LTX-8 and the LT-8 is the LT uses the factory igniter in any application, the LTX has built in igniters, on a mazda this allows you to use after market coil packs like bosch etc, when using the LT you use the factory coil packs. if you have the factory coil packs i would get a LT-8 they are around $150us cheper and you wont have to buy coils, it will probably save you $225us. Tech help is avaliable through dealers in the states or on the board, im not 100% sure who is a dealer over there, i know MVA is. Maps come supplied on the ECU. Dale |
so where can i get a hold of some info? i really want to know the real US price for this, so i am able to save up, i still want to use stock coils
-mike |
www.rxengineering.com has some info on the systems, Jon can also ship to US,
going on AU prices i would be guessing about $800-900us shipped to your door, Dale |
I found prices and converted them to US funds and it was $559US for the MTX8. Not sure on shipping charges though. At least I believe so. The dealer is in Australia and the prices didn't specifically say what currency the prices were in, but I assume AUS funds.
|
well i think this will be what i am going with! time to save even more!!! damnit this is getting pricy for a 450hp car!!!
but :D when she is done!!! bahahahahahahahah! |
hey ryde or die where did you find those prices? what web site?
|
the LTX-8 retails at $1095 and coils are $150au, that works out at $699us plus shipping, of about 30us,

Check out www.atkinsrotary.com They are in Washington State. They sell and swear by the Microtech.

good luck trying to reach Dalton
Before I bought my E6K I really wanted a MTX-8 (this before the LT series came out) But could never reach either Dalton or Dyson (who have the best prices) As for support don;t worry Microtech is starting to make big gaines especially here in florida I heard "rosado racing" of NHRA fame Back halfed corolla with a 2.0 MR2 motor 8.0 with a E6k and now has switched to a microtech and has gone 7.6 in the 1/4 I may try Tim former owner RPM in AUS for a LTX-8 sometime in Feb I seen the LTX-8 ECU and It is "tiny" looks like a 40 watt car AMP LoL |

In florida
Ortiz Speed Shop sells Microtech and has a tuner that was trained by Anthony.R of maztech? He can sell, Install and dyno tune the car for $1,600 was what I heard 407-277-1787 or 321-229-6075 |

MVA would be the way to go. I've talked to Marcos several times now and he really seems to know his stuff.
I originally got my MT-8 when Dave Galord was at Atkins. I called about an issue recently (regarding split timing) and Dave Atkins had *no clue* and confessed that he had never done any serious tuning with them. He stated that he installed one on an airplane they had and made some fine adjustments to compensate for changes in altitude. But as far as really knowing the system... he does not. I wouldn't order a Microtech from Atkins. They hardly know their stuff and it will take months before you get your order. The main one that knew about the microtechs was Dave Gaylord but he's no longer working there. That company is going down due to lack of intelligence on their part.

Hey Roger,
Long time no see! You are probably referring to Scott Glassburn of Mazsport in Largo, FL. He formerly worked at Maztech and claims to be able to tune the Microtechs. My personal experience has not yielded any results. I won't get into any name calling, but the guy kept my car for over 6 months for work he said would take 1 month and put over 500 miles on my car supposedly giving the car a street tune. In that period he broke my transmission and then tried to build in a massive amount of profit selling me the replacement parts at full retail. I wound up getting stuck with most of the bill, or so it appeared, at least. As far as tuning Microtechs, he indicated that the misfiring I was having was due to my ignition setup not functioning correctly or not being up to snuff (4 x MSD SS coils and a MSD 6A for the leading - apparently the same setup MVA makes over 600hp on their 3 rotors). When I got the car home, I pulled a little fuel from those areas and the car ran fine. Dyno-tuned it myself a week later and made 37X to the rear wheels. The real problem turned out to be that the manifold he modified for me and supposedly tested did not control boost. Rather than being able to tune WOT at 10psi, the boost would jump to 1bar after 5000 rpms. Anyhow, I'd post the dyno sheets but they show just how poorly I can tune a car (a/f's were fine, but the J&S was pulling timing for some reason - looking back, I think I had the timing too advanced  ). If a certain South Florida Haltech dealer would get back in touch with me, I might wind up putting a Haltech in the car. In that case, the Microtech would be for sale along with the harness. All that said, I'll let you all decide for yourselves who you want to take your car to. I'm merely stating what happened to me during my dealings with Mazsport. Wow, pretty coincidental. That was my experience as well.
However, just in case there are any doubts about me posting under a different name - it took me the entire time from the first post to the second post to type all of that stuff up :) Best, John Originally posted by vteckiller88 I wouldn't order a Microtech from Atkins. Microtech support in the US is looking pretty grim.. I still have an open mind. Convince me!
