Microtech Lt-10s Into Series 4 Problems

hey there, i've just finished putting an lt10s into my australian spec series 4 and am having troubles getting it started. i've got a few mates who have experience in tuning and installing microtechs into rotors but they can't make it around for a few weeks.

i followed the wiring diagram that came with the ECU to the letter. but when i turn the key, i have no cranking RPM. my mate told me that it means the crank angle sensor is wired wrong. i checked it and it was the first time but fixed that and it still won't fire and still won't read rpm. :wallbash:

has anyone had this problem with theirs or does anyone know the wiring colours or a way to use the hand controller to check if the crank angle sensor is wired correctly. i know how to use the controller to check that the injectors and coils are wired up correct.

any help would be greatly appreciated

check the wiring to the CAS, make sure you are wiring it up to the correct colors. they change colors at the plug. when cranking you should be getting the orange LED blinking, if not then you are not getting a signal from the CAS. hopefully the coils are wired correctly.

You may have more luck posting this question in the Microtec forum.

I don't know much about Microtec, but I know with Megasquirt noise is an issue that can cause problems with the CAS signal. I would expect a slightly different result if it was noise but make sure the sheilding on the CAS wires is well grounded at the ECU.

Remove the CAS from the front cover and key on the car. Spin the CAS with your hands. Do you see RPM?

If you don't see RPM but do have all the other gauges in the software active, then the CAS is probably connected wrong on the connector is bad.

i took the CAS out of the front cover and spun it by hand and it is reading RPM when i do that. what is the next step i can take?

Check all you grounds. Your engine is probably ungrounded.

Where did you ground the ECU? Are you using the Microtech's stock CAS harness?

No to do with grounds.
his timing was out and fuel lines were the wrong way around.
he is gona stick some plugs in it and some oil and see if it starts but before it was just cranking over doing nothing, now its actually trying to start.

Wait...so Microtech read RPM when the CAS was cranked by hand, but not when the engine was rotated by the starter...yet it was a timing and fuel problem? I don't get that...

some microtechs dont display an rpm when cranking but still start.
really as long as the orange light is flashing its picking up a crank signal.
although.
after speaking to the owner of the car on the phone and trying several things to get the car started, the computer was spitting out a ref error, and that he had not soldered his cas wires and reshielded them.
