microtech, help

i have a lt-8 on my 87 turbo II with a streetport, full rb exhaust and stock turbo, problem is that one night the car was running fine a little on the rich side but fine, but the other night it stated to act up it wouldn't go past 3200 rpms it would just backfire like crazy so i checked the maps and tuned the mixture down a bit but its still not going past 3200 rpms, I don't think its my injectors cause they were working fine, unless i got a really bad tank of gas, could it be my timeings to retarted? am in a rut right now its been a real hassle to drive it if any one has any ideas please help

Thanks
Eric

do you have a wide band??

if so what are the readings??

have you changed your plugs??

fc dude 06-04-04 01:33 AM

plugs are new and don't have a wideband, but the readings are anywhere from 11-15, if it helps

10sec rx7 06-06-04 08:10 PM

how do you know what the readings are if you dont have a wideband???

fc dude 06-06-04 10:38 PM

the readings from the hand programer, there from the narrow band, so there prob not accurate

You're right. Narrowband is really only accurate at stoich...

You're REALLY going to need a true WB if you're going to do any tuning/troubleshooting. IMO it's a good investment -- esp. for a boosted motor.

They are cheap now too...300.00 makes it a done deal.

Check the connectors on both of your secondary injectors.Make sure both injectors are working fine & no pins have backed out of the plug or something stupid like that.
You will most likely have your RPM stage set at 3000 & there is a problem with one of the injectors/connections when it is switched on.
For a quick test try moving the rpm stage value from 3000 to 4000 & see if the stumble moves up with it.

i'll check the connections and move the stage up and let you know the result

as for the wideband i think my friend may have one so i'll call him up.

I think i may have found he problem, i think its my tps.
I checked it and it wasn't calabrated so i did it and the car ran fine smoth all the way to redline, after i stoped i checked the tps again and it wasn't calabrated any more so i think thats bad

Josepi 06-09-04 03:48 PM

I'd question if the TPS is good or not.

fc dude 06-10-04 03:32 AM

i don't think it is because it uncalabrates its self
