Microtech - FD Help!!
How do you check initial timing on an FD using ltx-8???
|
Go to screen 31, and scroll over to TimingCheck, and enable it, and the set timing as usual.

What is the usual way of setting timing on an FD???
We were told to check timing with the timing light on the trailing 1 plug. The timing mark when dialed in on the light is like 40 degrees out.Unlike the other installs ive done the ltx on the FD does not have an adjustment feature for initial timing when the timing is locked and you cannot adjust the timing physically because its got crank triggers. |
There isn't a sticker under the hood telling you which wires to connect to, colors on the pulley, and a pin to set it by?
|
Nope ,no stickers !!??

Been trying to get info from the guys we bought the system from but no luck, they say the guys in OZ havent come back to them yet.Its been three weeks already!

I'm planning on getting the LTX12 to run my 20B using the FD front cover and crank triggers.. and I was thinking the same thing after reading the manual saying to set and lock the timming to 5' after top dead center.. Since there is no way to manually adjust timming this could be a little hard to accomplish.. :D Do the Microtec guys automaticly set it up to do the correct timming when you tell them you are using the 3rd gen crank/tdc triggers or am I going to have to slot my tigger wheel so I can adjust it?
|
Whats up !!
No comments or suggestions from the Microtech Guru's. |
I'll be honest, I'm stumped. The crank trigger shouldn't be able to be that far out, and there's no "CAS stabbing" error w/ the FD trigger. Are you sure the pulley's on correctly? That's honestly all I can think of. :(

At the moment the car runs fine,no problems.
in fact it runs 10 times better than it ever did. But after installing the system and putting the timing lock on ,we could not see the timing mark to make sure everything was OK.we can take for granted that the crank triggers are in a fixed position and that microtech has set up the map to suit but in the back of my mind I will be doubtful. |
hmmm interesting...... your probably gonna have to mark your pulley
