Microtech for FD?!

MicroTECH/Power FC/Haltech?

I'm runnig a 1993 RX7 (FD), really don't know which one is good for the car. Road course racing only. Which is less likely to fail? Basically i'm like everybody...wanting the best for a less price. I am well aware of the price on all three products but which one has more features?

If Microtech, which one? LTX8 or LT8? And why is it better than Power FC or the haltech? Any benefits?

Thanks

you have 2 choices there, microtech make a FD plug in, which is just like the power fc but it has a few features that the power fc dosent in the way of temp corrections,

or you can use a LT which you rewire the car, i would go this way as looms are oftern had it, this way there is no chance of things going wrong,

either of these options give you good tuning, the plug in controls the OMP but the wire over dosent,

Dale.... thanks for the reply....but can you elaborate more on the temp cerrection. Also by having 16x16 resolution on tunign maps, is the microtech not as fine tune able as Power FC having 20x 20 solutions?

Thank you

The 16x16 vs 20x20 isn't really an issue, especially considering how easy it is to dial in a basic fuel curve with an LT8. There are ugly, ugly ways to simulate such functionality with a PFC (using the PIM voltage, etc), but I hate using it. :)

Basically, the LT8 is a bang-for-buck and ease-of-use ECU. It's easy to afford, easy to install, and easy to live with. If you want something that will brew coffee based on your fuel temperature and wheel speed, you'll need to look elsewhere. ;)
