Microtech cutting in and out when driving???
 

Well, ive been busy dealing with some kind of wire "cut" out on the harness that goes to my LT12. SO far i have "tightened" up the clips that plug into the ECU, and electrically glued the back of the wires to keep them from moving. When you would touch the wires, the car would cut out completely...(few wires on the top right row seemed to be the bigger issue.) However, NOW, the car still cuts out when driving or if the ECU is touched in the slightest ways. You can tug on the wires, move them and the car is fine but when driving it will "cut" out and the car will completely shut down. I hooked up the laptop, to test for ERROR and the ERROR that comes up is "RPM==ERROR" in the checklist box. Could this possibly be "internal" and not another lose wire? (wires are tight and not moving).....

If i need to fill in any other blanks please let me know, any feed back is good feed back.

Crank sensor error.

Your loom is dead.

Change the loom.

Specifically the Crank sensor loom. 4 pin loom.

Is there a better explanation about the "loom"..are you referring to the entire 4 wires the connect into the ecu? (I think of "loom" as the tubing that the wires are covered with, if you could better explain this it would be much appreciative.)

Also, the red light does NOT flash when JUST the"TPS cal" error is shown. The red light ONLY flashes when the error for RPM comes up. I am going to inspect the wires leading out of the cas sensor and see.

Its a small 4 wire loom that plugs into the microtech.

This would be the only loom to spit an rpm error. It will be picking up interference. It could be any one of those 4 wires, red, green, blue, yellow.

ended up being the rest of the connections at the clip that are all just lose to the touch. Tightened up the prongs, and hot glued the back of the clips so the wires don't move in and out of position....so far everything is working well......thanks for you help rx72c

Is it a genuine microtech loom?
or did some dodgy electrician put it together, never seen that happen with a proper microtech loom

Yes, its genuine. The clips seem to not hold "tight" onto the prongs that connect it to the ecu. Once i tightened them down, and filled them with hot glue (pretty much what it is) they no longer wiggled "lose" Drove the car from friday to monday with no problems what so ever.

Bought directly from a microtech rep from this forum about 2 and half years ago during a group buy. So......ya...maybe i should bump that thread if i can find it.
