Matrix Mode

I was just curious to see who actually uses "matrix mode" over "normal mode"? Do you have any problems using matrix mode? How well does the interpolation seem to work? I myself have always used normal mode, never really messed to much with matrix mode, but have decided to give it a shot.

thanks

I use matrix mode, and wouldn't tune it any other way. The interpolation is...acceptable.

Honestly I have no idea why anyone would use "normal" mode. It's a holdover from tuning carburetors (just like the Microtech timing paradigm is a holdover from dizzies...though there is no "matrix" mode for timing available).

that's essentially the answer i was looking for. thanks!

for a perfect tune go matrix. thats the only way i get very good mpg

I always use matrix too.. the normal mode just seems a bit crude and inadequate imo

this is because the microtech system was designed to be used by people familiar with carbs. microtech's own training spends way more time teaching you the attributes of "normal" mode than matrix mode. The 2d tuning models and correction tables properly tuned can result in quite good MPG. The interpolation is meant to be more of a jumping off point to get you started in fine tuning the system in 3d mode.
