Major issue...need help asap
I recently purchased an LT-10s on the forum. The unit was as described and appears barely used. I wanted to replace the unit I currently have which is also an LT-10s but is owned by a friend and to top it off has always had a few electrical issues with the drivers so it was time to change it.
So off to the issue... I currently use my LT-10 configured as Seq + Aux and because I have LS-2 coils I have a pos+ spark trig. When I loaded the map onto the "new" Microtech it would not start the car. A bit of searching and I found two possible problems. Problem #1(most relevant imo) - in the menu where you choose the spark trig of the new micro I can only choose between IGBT and NEG-, no pos+ is there that I can switch to. I believe this is obviously not working with my ignition system and is the main reason the car wont start. I have no idea what IGBT means but I suspect its not the same as pos+'' Problem #2 - In the menu where I can normally pick between Sequential and Seq + Aux I can only pick between Sequential and GROUP FIRE. This is a lesser problem because I dont have a real issue switching to tuning sequential like everyone else. My main question is if this is something I can modify on my own or if to change it needs to be shipped to AUS which would really suck. Maybe I will sell it and buy a different one before I spend more money on this one... Below are some pics of what I have on my current ECU vs what I have on the one I got. just save the map off the old ECU and transfer it to the new one, that eliminates most errors when translating maps by hand.

does it have a MazTrig as an ignition function or a t*gap screen?
the mazda trigger can be found on screen 31 under "config" and timing gap is listed on screen 26. if not try setting it to 4 cylinder/rotary. only the X4 units are designed to be used with standalone coils like the LS2 coils. the standard LT10s is built to run the stock coils with ignitors(which is probably the issue here). firing should be sequential. i ask because i have never seen a microtech setup for a rotary with the option "IGBT". |

The LSx coils are IGBT. Is a term for the type of internal ignitor the coil uses. Most internal ignitor coils would be considered IGBT.

I always used neg- triggering for any smart coil. the igbt function is for their x4 box(or any aftermarket box that uses igbt transistors) If you want search here and you will find my old map when i ran microtech. Had ls2 coils,800/1680cc inj and the factory cas.
If the microtech isnt configured for the rx8 trigger setup, it wont work. |
