LTX12 w/ Wideband Option issues

Hey all, back in 2003 a good friend of mine purchased an LTX12 with wideband option. Long story, but since then the car has been in "unfinished project" state, and not until now have we gotten around to actually attempting to hook up the wideband sensor.

Heres the problem. On his flying lead, he only has the standard mircotech Red/Black O2 wire.

Does the wideband option he paid for still require an external wideband controller?

Did this option only allow for the wideband sensor to be datalogged in the EMS?

The way I see it, even though he paid for the wideband "option" with his LTX12, he still is gonna have to get a wideband controller with an Aux out and wire that into the microtech's O2 sensor wire.

Which is TOTALLY what he was trying to avoid in the first place, and makes it sound like the wideband option he paid for was a total rip off.

Im just wondering, at the time, he paid like an extra $150 for this option on the ecu, and no information was contained in the manual or anything, and there definitely isnt any additional leads for the 4 wire O2 Sensor.

Searched on "wideband" to further educate myself and happened across this one from 2001. Does anyone know the answer to his question? I, too, have the LTX12 and am going to purchase/install a wideband sensor. An answer to this would be helpful to my knowledgebase.

Thanks!
