LTX-8 is it too old for my FD
 

I am thinking about purchasing an LTX-8 EMS with 3 bar map sensor, all wiring, laptop adapter for dirt cheap. I was told I can use 2nd Gen coils with this ECU compared to using X4 ignition module? Any info would help. It will be going on my FD, Large Street Port with BNR's stage 3's.

Who ever has give you this information needs to be slapped a few times.

Firstly you cannot use it on your FD because your FD uses different crank triggers. so if you want to use it on your FD(assuming it was previously programmed for an older 13bt) it must be sent back to microtech in australia to be reprogrammed to suit.
ALSO. since it is a LTX model you must use 4 seperate DUMB coil packs(i.e no ignitor strapped to them). So either 4Xbosch hec 715 coil packs or 4 mazda trailing coil packs(that have had the ignitors stripped off them). It has nothing to do with the X4 ignition module.
With this computer you will not be able to run the factory 2nd gen ignition system, neither would you be able to run the factory FD ignition system.

Your better off buying a new lt10s with x4 box (thats if you wanted to go microtech).
I sell them for around $1150 US(delivered) with 4X HEC 715 coil packs.

Or you could buy a power FC plugin which would probably get you out of trouble much faster.

Well this LTX8 came off another FD, does this mean I will still have to send the ECU to Microtech to be reprogrammed? so is it not worthe the trouble of using the LTX8 model on my FD, unless I want to go the trouble of changing my stock ignition system right.
Where can I get the mazda trailing coil packs that you mentioned, or the 4X HEC 715 coil packs?
I appreciate all your info but I already purchased this ECU and need any more info I can get to install this unit on my FD.

IM not sure where you can obtain 4Xhec 715 coil packs were you are but down here in aus they are fairly easy to get.

If it came of an FD then you wont need to send it back for reprogram.

Yes that also means with this computer you cannot use any of the stock ignition, you have to use 4 X hec 715 coil packs.
The factory mazda trailing coil packs are very expensive down here as they are hard to get and everybody wants them. Everytime i have a set available im able to get rid of them for around 200USD. But i dont have a set at this point in time.

4x hec 715 coil packs down here in aus brand new cost $250AUD for the set.

When I was importing Microtechs a few years ago I couldn't find a domestic source for ignition coils in the U.S. We found that just about any aftermarket coil will work. We looked into packaging MSD coils with the microtechs because shipping the HEC coils from australia was just too expensive.

In your situation i would suggest getting 4 msd coils and use them.

Thanks again guys I will look into buying some MSD coils. As soon as I get my EBC and fuel injectors I will be sending my FD to RMS.

Which coils would be best to use for my LTX8?
