LT12S Ignition breakup

It happens all over the RPM range, but will smooth out randomly while driving. Sometimes it will cut out consistently about 2 times a second other times its audibly running on 2 rotors.

My current setup is
3 Rotor
LT12S
x6 ignition
MSD DIS4 box
2nd gen trailing coils for individual coils

I guess i should note that the only thing that hasnt changed between my last setup and this setup is the 2nd gen trailing coil packs. I have used the bypass plug on the MSD unit with same results. Has anybody had experience with running these types of coils as standalone coils? The seem beefy to suit modest power goals.

what are you using the msd dis-4, to run the 3 leading coils only, also make sure that the setting on the DIS-4 is setup for waste spark and not direct fire, and what are your dwell settings for spark.

I currently have the leadings only hooked up. I think dwell was somewhere around 3.5 or 3.9 and yeah the dis 4 is set for wasted spark

many people have had very good success with running just the trailing coils and a x(4,6) box. i'd first get rid of the msd box entirely and then if still a issue try a diff set of coils. what type of plugs and wires are you using? have you check the plugs and wires for any faults yet?

Dwell should be set at 2.0 to 2.5 for the MDS DIS

13btnos is correct, dwell time at 2-2.5

Well i figured out that i had a bad coil. I think maybe my dwell time was too high on my old ECU and destroyed one if not 2 of my old coils. The car would run fine and then would promptly break up at higher RPMs. I'll reattach the DIS4 box.

I'll be honest thought i think im going to switch to a haltech when i get a chance. The tuning software on the Microtech is shit. Theres no open end user options and the fact that you cant save/change maps is a real buzzkill. If they gave more than one load point tuning option and an easy to use point per point adjustable fuel table i might keep the unit around. I wish someone would "jailbreak" this unit with something even as simple as Megatune. I'll stop with the ranting, i just feel like i've been slamming my head against a table for a week trying to tune with this bastard.
