LT-8 Base Map for FD with T-78, 550/1600, FPR, Denso FP and 90 Oct..
Anybody have have a base map i can use to get started on my car. The car is a FD with
Stock Engine (Stock Ports) Greddy T78 kit Denso Supra Fuel Pump and SX FPR:confused: 550 Pri and 1600 Sec. Injectors Custom V-mount IC(greddy)/Rad (Fluidyne) (Dunno if that makes a difference) Currently running stock 7 and 9 plugs I live in Jamaica..so its relatively warm here all the time. We only get 90 at the pump. I would be running like 10psi for now until all is sorted out...If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |
The base map that is in the computer will work good enough(you cant put any boost into it at all) to get you to a dyno tune place.
Id also get rid of that fuel pump, put a surge tank and 2X Bosch 044 pumps. |
If you want a map that is gona get you driving around, i can quickly right one out BUT i will NOT take any responsibility for engine damage if their is any. So here goes:

Id also get rid of that fuel pump, put a surge tank and 2X Bosch 044 pumps. The tune you gave..is that just a safe tune to get me driving off boost or can i take it to the 10 psi? I was hoping to learn to tune it myself. I have a Innovate LC-1 wideband installed, egt and J&S knock sensor to go in as well. What are your suggestions? |
i also have a walbro GSS342 lying around..could i put that use with the supra pump instead of the bosch pumps??
|
No. If you ever drive with a big hp car with intank pump it will surge under half tank.
Get a surge tank. that tune will be fine to 10psi. check on LC-1 to make sure afrs are 11.5:1 and below. |
so even with the surge tank i should still abandon my my denso setup?
I just realised that i didn't even say thanx for the map in the previous post..got so overwhelmed with what you were telling me i forgot my manners..THANKS alot.much appreciated |
whats the max psi you think i can run on the 90 octane safely? and how power should i be expect at 10 psi and the max?
|
With the tune on the above its not going to make much power(well cant be sure anyway)..
no more then 13-14psi with 90 octane safely. If the specs of everything you wrote down are correct, on 90 octane on 14psi, you should make 350rwhp. If you want to use the Denso to fill the surgetank then that is no problem, but i have seen many of these cars with no surge tank, loose engines cause they surge when they are low on fuel. |
i'm currently looking into the surge tank option. I will be going with one..I am just doing some research on it now so i make the right choices when i go that route. Also been looking into water injection as well (i know... a little off topic).
If i put a wide band source from the LC1 to the Lt8 AFR port..will it read it correctly? or narrow band only? |
has that map been tested on any cars?
|
No it will not read correctly in narrow band.
No the map has not been tested on any cars. I have done alot of tuning and this map will not be 100% but it will be ok. |
Anybody know the Walbro 392 lph external inline pump? Do you know how it would compare to the Bosch 044 pump? Is it a good combo with the supra pump intank?
|
392 litres p/hour does not sound right. The 044 flows 205l p/hour and flows 700hp.
If you are in need of an 044 pump i can supply you one. Pm me if interested. |
You say your have a stock engine with stock ports, so therefore your max horsepower goal should not be more than 350-400 to stay on the reliable side. With that said the denso in-tank pump alone is good for 420whp. I would save the surge tank setup for later when you get the engine ported..... just my opinion.

No one ever said it wont flow. you must read post properly before you post. JUST BECAUSE IT FLOWS ON A DYNO does not mean its going to suffice on the street when your car is below half a tank and your giving it a burn. I work on alot of rotaries, and i have seen in the recent 6 months 3 FCs and one FD all starve from fuel when the fuel guage was under half. So his stock fragile engine will be in pieces in no time. Like i say all the time. Do it ONCE, Do it RIGHT. |
Where in my post did i say you said it would'nt flow?? I personally dont like the use of surge tanks for a street car. I've driven in cars with surge tanks and the interior always have a slight smell of gasoline. If i had to use a surge tank i would go this route... https://www.rx7club.com/group-buy-center-69/gb-interest-fd-surge-cover-anti-starvation-tank-mini-fuel-cell-694665/

So let me get this straight. First you tell the man to not put a surge tank at all and he would have definitely ended up with 2mm mazda apex seal everywere. Then you tell him to baffle his tank? The above method shown in that thread will help surging but not eliminate it. If you get smell from a car with a surge tank, IT HASNT BEEN DONE PROEPRLY. |

Show me the tune that it started on and ill modify that one to suit.

I got a question...or 2......
1) I dont have a timing light to set/check the timing as prescribed in the manual and set it to 5* atdc. My handset shows me 10btdc on the display..is this a problem? do i need to adjust the timing until it shows the 5 atdc? 2) The idle map..do you only have to really set it at the pressure reference (eg. 20" or 15"HG) at which the car is idling? If thats the case.. why do they have all those higher number is the range..like +ve pressure? What AFR should i be aim for here? 14's? i find when i try and get the car to do 14's and idle at 950-1000 rpm it hunts and even wants to stall. 3)Load map.... When does the ecu change reading maps from idle to load? Under what rpm or pressure? Because yesterday..i have the wheels of the car in the air and was going thru the gears to see what was happening..and i was picking up some lean conditions at low revs..lest say 1800-3000 rpm. The car wasn't on boost yet...still reading vacuum. Which MAP should i adjust to take care of that? 4) I also noted...that in nuetral if I blipped the throttle from like idle..WOT kinda situation..i would lean afrs like 15, 16, 17 flash somewhere along the line...i dont have any dataloggin equipment set up at the moment so i cant say exactly at what rpm it happens or even if i happens when going up or coming down in the rev.... is this dangerous? 5)EGT.. What egts should I looking for when tuning? I installed it yesterday and had it running for the first time..its a single egt probe located about 5" behind the turbo in the DP...when i was doing the freewheel test it was kinda dancing about a little..one point it shot right up to 2200F. Which I know cant be good. |
Oh BTW..I had a fouled plug during all this crap..apart from point 4. Can a fouled plug cuz lean conditions or cuz instruments to read as if there is a lean condition?

Which I know cant be good. 1.Have you got your leads on correctly? S6 have crank triggers so timing can not be adjust manually. Your handset is showing 10 degrees because that is what you have set in the T_rpm map on idle. You can leave that their its not a problem. 2. Aim your idle AFRS at around 12:1(i usually set them at 11.4:1) to account for fuel boil, lights, etc. AND yes you only need to adjust the load points which are being used such as 20HG and15HG The other points are used when you are starting your car. Thats about it.(or if you have an engine that pulls low vaccum on idle). 3.The Microtech will change from Idle to Load map as soon as yuor TPS goes from 00% to anything over that so as soon as it ticks over 01% it goes to the load map. SO make sure you tps is calibrated and working correctly. Ify ou have found some lean points you need to find out where the lean points are (so target the lean spot and hold it their and find out what rpm and Vaccum pressure it is and adjust those points till you get it right).THEIR the afr meter needs a second or two to properly find the afr. Its not instant.MAKE SURE YOU HOLD IT 4.If your getting a lean spot when you pump throttle. You need to put your Pump1 Settings up. 5.The EGTs are abit high but you need to sort out your tune first before you can make any conclusions. |
I am looking at the map you wrote..the T_Rpm and T_map..they have the timing being advanced with higher rpm and boost..is that the norm? I thought the theory was to lower the timing as the boost went up for saftey? or is the 25* not too aggresive?
