LT-10s startup issue
I am currently trying to use the Microtech LT-10s to run my 13b pp engine. I am having an issue where as I cannot get it to start.
When I purchased the ecu setup, it came prewired to an MSD DIS-2 box but removed it due to it only being a two channel and unable to do what I needed. I currently have 4 LS coils with built-in igniters and I am getting solid spark on crank and if I spin the cas wheel by hand! However, I cannot get the engine to start for some reason. I have tried the stock FC coils as well but end up with the same situation. Could it be the mapping is incorrect? I have set the timing to 20 degrees already. Stabbed my cas correctly and have set my fuel regulator to 50psi |
update, cranking and it just misfires and tries to start but no dice. Just keep shooting flames from the exhaust while trying to start. Going to play with timing to see how it goes
|
The Microtech is set up by Microtech for the type of coils.
Please post your ignition setup (screen 30 I think) so it can be verified it will even work with the LS coils. Popping out of the exhaust typically means that there isn't enough fuel, or timing is widely off. If you disable fuel and ignition, then crank the car with the plugs out and a timing light on the engine, is does it fire even close to the mark? |
Yes the timing was set correctly. My issue is that L1 and L2 have the exact same timing. I had it timed and my screen 30 setup by a tuner and for some reason it will start on one rotor and the rear one will fire the exact same time as the front rotors

Um, L1 and L2 are waste spark in a stock config. Either they are wired together with your individual coils or the ECU is still set to drive them like an FC ignition.
|
So my L1 and L2 coils are supposed to be wired into the L1 and L2 output of ecu?
I haven't tried this so I will try this as soon as I clarify! Thanks! |
It depends on how the Microtech is set up.
Triggering L1 and L2 at the same time may be completely normal for the Microtech even if it is in individual coil mode (I think it's called "IGBT") . I honestly haven't had the need to check. Since the coils fire waste spark in stock configuration anyway it doesn't matter. |
Thanks Aaron, I am going to try this in a few. I'll set it up and see how she goes

have you got you car running right? post your ignition coil diagram and ill check it against mine. i am also running a lt-10s with 4xtrailing fc3s coils that was programmed for a x4 microtech ign box
|
check all wiring again, spray fuel down the TB and try to start it and see what that does, I never liked adding MSD boxes to the microtechs, they come set up from the factory to work with oem coils or their X4 box + their coils
|
Update: Sorry been really busy as I switched over to Adaptronic and the engine fired right up!
I will be wiring the Microtech on a stock na 13b this week and attempt this again. I will instead be using the FC stock coils in order to try and fire it up. Will update my ignition wiring when I am back at shop |
