Kinda out of place but... 740cc WRX w/ LT8

I was just curous about something. I found out that a simple mod (removing difuser cap) on the WRX injector yields a 740cc as opposed to a 440cc in stick form. Anyway I'm toying with the idea of using these as primarys on my setup.

A few questions for the MT elite here.

1) Any issues running a newer model denso high impendence injector?

2) Will four 740cc injectors at 85% be enough for 15psi? stock GTX motor and HKS TO4B.

3) The WRX injectors are "faster" as I've been told, meaning the amount of times per second that they open and close compared to a normal injector. Anyone shed light on such statements?

I've never heard of the "remove the diffuser plate mod" before but it sounds like a crock of shit to me.If it worked then I don't think I'd be getting as many calls as I do from wrx owners wanting to buy s/h secondary series 6 injectors.
But anyway,to answer your questions..........
No there's no problem running those injectors with the Microtech.
Depending on how efficient your turbocharger is 4 of those injectors should just be enough at 15 psi for your engine. If they do hit max duty then it's not too bad of a problem,it just means you are starting to make some decent power!!!!
When people are talking about the injectors being faster they are refering to the rise & fall time of the needle. Not the amount of time the injector opens & closes. This is all controlled by the ecu not the injector itself.

Well we just found out within the last two weeks about the injectors. Here is the link of the nasioc:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...62#post5466662

The WRX and pink STI injector are the same inside. Only difference is the tip. We've had them flow tested already. right at 720/740cc. I've been buying as many as I can get. :) I was just going to run staged setup on the WRX too but shoot, 740cc is a lot of fuel.

And I was not talking about how long they are open but the frequency speed.

I have 550/1600's on the the car now but it's been realy hard to tune. I was thinking of closing the gap between the injector sizes to make things alittle easier to tune. I'm thinking of running 740/1000 instead.

imgaine the spray pattern with out the disk in there, they would look worse than my bored out 1200cc injectors, Jon has seen how bad they are!!

call rolo at centeral florida turbo and get a set of 720cc primarys, this will make the gap a lot eaiser to tune,

Being that you guys are in Au makes me wonder which version you guys get. The JDM injectors were different. The new STI injectors are side feed and so are some of the older ones.

Anyway, I don't know if you read through the thread or not but the people who actually tested them out of the car to measure the flow rate said the pattern was negligable. The WRX also has the tumble generator to help at low RPM and temprature. But if you need 740cc injectors on a WRX spray pattern isn't the prime concern. :)

Well, I'm going to try them as primaries and see what happens. Everyone I had work on the 550/1600 setup gave up. Besides I'd rather have a setup a little easier to tune for future needs.

I'm thinking of using the 1000cc range for secondaries and get rid of the 1600's. those were overkill anyway.

speak to jon about the 550/1600 setup he has done lots of them and gets them to work well,

i have done a heap of work on WRX's and we have been getting them here since 94, all have had side feed injectors in 380cc or 440cc, ill have a look at some and see what they are going on about it.

as for 1600's being too much im just about to upgrade to 850cc primarys and 4x1600's in the secondarys and thirderys,

from a few things we have worked out over the last few weeks i would highly reccomend you fit larger primarys then remove the 1600's...

Well that was why I was going to go with 750's as primary's and maybe leave the 1600's at first. If I can get the hiccup out of the system then I'll definitely leave them.

thirdy's? lol... I gues you would have to have a lt12 to run that right?

I was suprised to find out the many differences on the WRX injectors based on the market's they end up in. My first WRX :) AKA 1986 GL10 4WD turbo... was a fun car, although I never did anything to it. I've been eyeing the market trying to find another one of those. It had the automatic with electronic controlled 4wd. You could turn the rear wheels off. It also had the LED gauge cluster. Man that was a car ahead of it's time.

Anyway, we'll know soon enough, I'm going to run the 750's on the WRX sometime in the next week. I've got a link 44s in it along w/ VF22.

there is a group buy on www.ausrotary.com for some direct replacment 850cc injectors for $150au each, throw some of them in the primarys and your set!!

yes i have a LTX12,

we only had 2 types or wrx's here, the old shape with the ej20t with 380cc injectors side feed which ran from 92-97, then in 98 they swapped back to a smaller td04L turbo and went to 440cc injectors and different inlet manafolds,
