ignition wiring questions

My newest Fd has been a headache since I bought it. It was already wired when I bought it...

My trailing coils have the one power wire, split into two, coming from the leading coils. Cool.

On my signal ones I found someone had wired my two wires together... So basically they are wired just like the power wires. Why? Isnt this bad? Is the twin power supposed to be on the signal wires or the power? Its all hacked up and I dont have the plug any more.

When i had a tuner down last week we took everything apart (except this bundle that was covered with electrical tape of course) The car just misfires like crazy at high rpms.

see picture.

Well we figured it out. I installed my MSD blasters and after 20 miles the coils ate themselves by overheating. No I didnt have them wired backwards. When i was cutting out the burnt wires around them I found my orange + orange/black signal/gnd wires were bridged. My new tuner kept messing with dwell time and said its not right before we found this. We then found my X4 was fried. So we assume the people who put in the microtech fried it and in an attempt to save the operation bridged my signal wires. So Ive been batch firing. I also posted before that my car ran better on v6 mode which may have been because of this.

So since the first guy trying to tune my car couldnt read error codes he blew my motor... and Ive been getting pissed trying to get this bitch running. It has been over a year and about 6 grand later and now I have to buy an new X4 and hope my stock trailing coils can handle it until I can afford better ones. I guess its still better than frying my main ECU...

I almost sold it the other day out of frustration. But it will remain in the garage for now.

where do you read error codes, i know theres an error check menu, is that what you are referring to?

Yeah it was showing a fatal error and the first tuner just kept on going. Im not sure on the handheld, but on the laptop it has a diagnostic error display... Or whatever you call it.
