Idle
 

Hi,

Just getting my car started but cant to get it right. I have to get it pull started, than it will idle at 1500. Sometimes it dies. What can it be.

I have calibrated the TPS. I have no wideband. Just the standard narrowband. My ms is in the 12.0.

My car is a FD with 850 primaries and 1600 secondaries. My intercooler is not connected yet, can this cause my high idle. At idle (1500rpm) my HG is -20hg.

Ive played with the mixtrim up and down and wont seem to really start good even with pulling.

Anybody give me a pointer which way to go?

oh by the way, my fans also wont come on.

What wire do you have the fans hooked up to? I had the same problem and at first tapped into the wrong wire. Correct color but wrong connector. As for your other problem are you sure you have a proper 12v ignition source. I mean have you checked to insure you have spark when you turn the key over. In my case I had an ignition source, but it was one similar to the radio in the sense that when the key was turned to start the Microtech lost power.

I wired the fans onto the existing wires. I red that I have to wire it on the red/blue wire or the white wire from the microtech as auxiliary output.

I tapped the ign. on. wire directly from under the steering wheel. I used thick wires dough, can this cause my high idle? And I run NGK #9 all around.

How likely would a vacuum leak cause my high idle? I blocked everything off using block off plates and liquid gasket.

How are you?? Finaly getting the car running? Those 850´s will be pushing alot of fuel on the base map. On the first fuel screen, bring the values at your idling point down to between 0.90-1.00. Maybe this helps. Give me a shout sometime...

That site tells you the correct wire for the fans. I don't remember off hand. Make sure you also set the fans to come on at a specific water temp. If you do have the correct wire that may be why they are not clicking on.
Make sure the ignition wire you tapped into is the correct black with tracer wire. There are two underneath there one black with yellow, the other black with white.
What you need to do is make sure the Microtech still gets power when you click over to the start point. You may have the wrong lead and therefore losing power when you click to start.
If your unit has lights on the side watch the green one to make sure it stays lit as you click over to start.

ok, just got the fans hooked up. Will go outside straightaway to look if the green light stays on.

Ok, the ecu goes out when starting, green goes off, so does the connection, I think my battery is dead. The battery didnt do this before.

nope not your battery. you are connected to the wrong battery lead. If your connected to the black with white switch to the black with yellow and vice versa. I don't remember which it should be off hand. Like I said look underneath there where you wired it up. You'll see two black wires.

Thanks for the reply. Will look tonight to which I connected. You are talking about the ignition on cable are you? or do you mean my ground wire from the Microtech should be connected somewhere else?

BTW I grounded the microtech on the chassis, should I change this to the engine block? I have a relocated battery and connected the ground and + wire to the old locations. The only thing what needs checking is the ignition on.

Got your PM, and will get back to you as soon as i can. Reference your ign on wire... I have mine connected to the coils, and is much easier to attach than at the ignition. On the diagram the pink wire goes to the pump relay, and the coils. This is the ign on wire.

Yes think I have, my Pink ign. on. wire is at the back of my coils, so that should be right. I think my battery is dead.

Use a volt meter or at least a test light. When you turn the ign to "on", the wire you're attaching to should show +12v (or light up). When you turn the key to "start" you should STILL have 12v. If it doesn't, you'll have to find a different wire. (disconnect your starter while doing all of this). Yes, definitely make sure your battery has a good charge.

Here's the deal, some items in-dash and around the car only have 12v in the "ON" position, not in the 'START' position. Not sure that this is your problem since you had it working once, but that's what it sounds like.
