I need some electrical help.

I need the best way to wire in a toggle switch to control a momentary on push button switch that will activate the “2 step” rev limiter on my Microtech LT-8.
The toggle will be on the dash and the momentary on push button will be on the clutch pedal.
The Microtech has an aux input that need to see +12v to activate.
Could someone draw me a diagram?

Thanks,
Bill

yeah I want to set this up on mine as well. I'm sure they have something floating around. Maybe not.

turbo80cid Jan 14, 2007 01:13 PM

well I did it today but it doesn't work that well.
I ran power to a toggle switch
then from the toggle to the momentary on push button
and then from the momentary on push button to the Microtech.

I set the rpm limit @ 3500
enrich to 5.00
timing to -30
didn't build any boost.

I'll mess with it some more later today.

Ok, I messed with it some more last night.
I guess I was just scared to stand on the gas.
With the same settings as above it works...it just takes a few seconds to really start working.
No popping or banging just a slow up and down rev….. a few hundred rpm's and it made 5psi on a stock S5 turbo & stock ports.

hum interesting. Not sure if you would have a few seconds to spool up a turbo on the strip. Most of the time when I see this it only takes a split second.

Well I'm pretty sure my turbo is due for a rebuild....making some noise. And maybe a few seconds would be exaggerated. Also the weather here has been terrible so I haven’t had a chance to get out and really use it. I’ve only rev’ed it in the driveway…..and I don’t really like doing that because I like my neighbors.

i've got the set up right here... i'll make a pic of the set-up i am running for the switch...does any one know if the clutch switch outputs a 12v+ siganl?

red87tll Jan 27, 2007 10:20 PM

here ya go... this is the setup that i am running, should work for all if i drew it correctly

with this wiring---you must push in the clutch (if the clutch provides a 12v+ signal when pressed) then push the arm button. it will pull the relay closed and keep power to the ECU as long as the clutch is pressed, keeping it in "2 step" mode. once you have released the clutch the ECU will return to "NORMAL" mode, you must re-arm it in order to become locked back into "2 step" mode.

I dont think you should set a revlim.. that cuts the fuel from the motor...

instead, just set it up to crank the fuel up about 50% and pull the timing back about 30* once it hits 3500rpm..

turbo80cid Jan 27, 2007 10:45 PM

you have to give it a limit....so the ecu knows where to hold the rev's.
i don't understand what you are trying to say.

also it's the aux rev limit

red87tll Jan 27, 2007 11:26 PM

oohhh, i though u were just trying to set the normal revlim to 3500 ...

heres a link to some other setup stuff if it helps.

ok, thats cool.
and thanks for the link.....I've read it before.
I've got it working but on the street it's hard (very hard) to get traction.....still fun.

cool, thanks for the easy to read diagram. Will be setting this up for those times at the track.
