How to lengthen the throttle cable?
My cable is just a tad short, making my idle pretty high. How can I make it longer? There is a "stop" thing that hits the throttle, how can I adjust that? Thanks.

Which Rx-7 do you have? On the FD there is a rubber bushing, right after where the cable snaps into the pedal. This can be cut off with a razor blade, and give 1cm extra length.

The FC is the same way. There's a threaded section with a jam nut. Loosen the nuts and it will allow you to slide the cable forward.
|
I've already maxed out that section, the nut can move no further. Any ideas? I only need about 3-5 cm of travel...
Oh, and it's an S5 13b-t in an S4 T2 body |
how is it that your cable is to short..what happend
|
Nothing happened. My throttle cable bracket is straight, and i can't pull the cable any further. I just checked now, and I'm not even 3cm short, more like 1-2 cm. Just enough to make me idle at 2000 RPM constantly.
|
Well, I guess you could cut the cable and then solder in a splice...But it seems very odd that you would be short, considering the throttle cables between series of TIIs are the same...Is the cable maybe pushed too far into the cabin?
|
I tried bending the bracket just now, doesn't seem to do the trick. I'd have to bend that alot just to get 1-2 cm.

-thinking about making my own bracket, or -unwrapping the cable sheathing a bit to allow more cable to come out. |
well something went on, i have never seen a cable too short before...
