Good Tuners (QLD)

About to purchase LTX-8 for my series 5.

Does anyone have any opinion of who i should get to do the install and tune. I was thinking Dyson Rotory on the outskirts of the gold coast.

What a/f ratios will/should it be tuned to and how much boost should i be looking to run to make good reliable power if there is such a thing.

I an running a Dyson spec hi-flow turbo(rated 390hp). would they be able to tell me how much boost my turbo generates its best power.

i have 3mm seals, extend port, Dyson spec hi-flow turbo (rated 390hp) front mount intercooler, 3inch exhaust, which was rebuilt 6000kms ago at Phil's Rotory's(mr rotory speed shop) in brisbane.

With no dyno it leaves me in two minds whether to get it installed there

yeah i think dyson shoud be alright. I live on the sunshine coast and i get all my stuff done at PR Performance hes got a dyno but he aint got anywhere to put it yet the shed hes leasing wile he gets his built is to small. i got my car dynoed at RP motors in brendale once and they did a shit job. What fuel pump and injecters are you running cuz that could be limit on how much boost you could run. you wont need a ltx8 unless you want to go aftermarket coils like bosch an lt8 would be fine with stock coils and ignighters

rotormatt 03-22-03 10:28 PM

Im only running standard injectors and fuel pump, but i am thinking of using a fuel pump of a BMW as they are the Bosh or flow the same and i can get them cheap.

To my knowledge the standard injectors and pumps are reasonably good unless your going all out.

Also i don't need coils i've been told, so that is the only differance between lt-8 and the ltx-8, is that it comes with coil packs.

im hoping to run about 16psi but the only problem is my mechanic doesn't like to run hi boost, so it will be funny to see how hi they will let me go.

If you can make the drive up to Raymond Terrace (I dunno how far that is from you! :)) I'd drop by RX Engineering. That's where Jon Blanch works... the other half of the recent LT8 groupbuy.

i think there is both internal and external versions available. all i've been told about them is that they have great flow rates and is a great upgrade instead of paying the dollars for a brand new boshe pump at around $325. I'll find out more and get back to you.

Hey Madaz07, what type of intercooler are you installing. how much did it cost and what size and type of pipe are you using? thanks

rotormatt 03-24-03 04:17 AM

How much did you guys get the LT8's for in the group buy??? i think im getting mine for $950

The bmw pumps are not too bad, best bet is a 550hp bosch pump, at about $275 you cant go wrong,

$950 is a good price you wont get much cheaper than that, RRP on them is $1095

i bought one core size is 620 x 210 x 60 when they went to fit it, they said it was to big so went and had a look and it wont fit its to long so im going to sell it and get a custom one like i should of done in the first place:mad:

im using 2 1/2" mild steel as i got it all for free:D

the new one is going to be about 500 x 300 x 75

10sec rx7 03-25-03 03:22 PM

Dude you will fit that core in there, i had one same length but a little higher on my old car, just have to cut the radiator supports and sit it in there,

my new one is 550 tall, 450 wide and 75 thick, i had to make new radiator supports to fit it in but it fits like a glove now, the bottom sits behind the lower apron and the top is basically a inch from the bonnet,

if i was you i would be going 55x400x75 that will fit awesome, with the pipes on the top with some 90deg bends on them it will look sweet.

yep sounds good 550 x 400 x 75 do you still have AC pump or did you get rid of it to make way for the
IC piping?? I cant wait for my new FMIC:D
