Found a good article! EGT vs Narrow/wideband

Well I realized that I'm stuck. So Iv'e been doing some research.

I have nothing to tune my LT8 with. From the threads Iv'e read, I can't rely on the AFR gauge on the Laptop right? So I guess i have to buy a wideband!!

I really like the Microtech one, but I dont have $900
 . So if you guys find one that we can use at a more affordable price, please let the rest of us know.

I have been following the techedge 2.0. I wil be purchasing the kit and build it myself when the new 4 digit display comes out. My friend, Piranha, has the TE 1.5 and it works well, the only downfall is the sensor is so expensive, it's the L1H1 Honda sensor. With the 2.0 kit, you have your choice between two much cheaper sensors.

Here's a link:

I have a TE 2.0 but i have yet to install let alone start tuning so I can't really give much of a review... other than it looks neat :)

Which sensor did you go with, the 7057 or the 6066?

luiml73 10-06-03 10:32 PM

Iv'e been reading some of you guys older threads, and did some searching on the Techedge myself. I'm glad you guy's have them already, so you can give us you review.

Here in Miami there's a few guys, who are pretty good in the tunning dept. but it's pretty expensive. $400 plus Dyno fees(ouch!!). One of the guys just tuned a 8sec. 13B-T plus he tuned a 710Hp 240sx(skyline Engine) so I trust him.

The problem is what happens when you change turbos and want more power? $400 more. I guess in the long run, it's better to learn to tune this things our selves. This means we need a wideband.

I'm wondering if it might be cheaper to convert my LT8 to a LT12....If it's possible?

If you willing to put up with it's sometimes unstable operation the Innovatemotorsports.com wideband kit is certainly the best value on the market.

our kit cost $350 w/ sensor (lsu 4.2) and when it works it does a great job - it just has a tendency to wig out and display some really insane numbers, fortunately it always datalogs the propper figures and a quick reset and recalibration usually fix the problem.

I had my AEM wideband shipped for $380 bux. Im sure they have come down in price since 4 months ago though.

Ray.......I did read about the Innovatemotorsports.com, but brandon said "It is'nt ready for Prime Time" so I did'nt bother to research. I guess maybe now I will.

I'll look into AEM also!

Thank's

Luis

I love having a wideband in my car. I know what is going on with the engine much more. Except Jim broke mine.

Piranha 10-07-03 11:55 PM

Ok, he didn't really break it, it just broke on his car!!! :)

7057 is the VDub sensor right? that's the one i'm running. I'm going to put my car on the dyno before I start tuning and check the readings just to make sure the accuracy is good before i put full trust in and start tuning.

Yeah, that's the sensor that sells for $28.99 :) I plan on using that one with my kit for obvious reasons...

Piranha 10-08-03 10:55 PM

So when he breaks it will be cheap to fix!!! Just kidding Jim!!!!

I plan on ordering about.. 3 - 4 more sensors but i'm going to wait and put the car on the dyno first to make sure that the readings are good first before in invest more money in sensors :)
