fd 's using stock OMP and microtechs?

ok im helping a guy build up a monster fd. street port and all the goods. hes new to moding them and im new to fuel infection and fd's ecu crap... the bigest hurdle i think we are gonna hit is what ecu's can handle the stock electric omp? i was told a new microtech to be released with in a few weeks would beable to do this... TRUE? FALSE?

true it will do this eventually, probably not till next year till the loom change kicks in

the current range of plug in ecu's just run the OMP at the default settings,

i just check k2rd.com (back online, finally)
they had the wiring for 20b omp wiring too
but it's just for haltech
i think someone may know how they work
if they know much about haltech.

any idea?

crispeed 12-03-03 07:11 AM

They are using the idle air motor driver to control the omp with the haltech.

do you think we could do the same with microtech too?
i through they were TPS controller type some how,
lol i got that idea from S4.

For my case, I 'm using the mechanical OMP on my 13B-RE. I have removed the electric type and mod in the mechanical. I use a string to pull the OMP about 1/2 way so I don't have to pre-mix so often.

wow... you can mix and match those thing?
i should try it out, do you have any tips to newbe?

GUITARJUNKIE28 12-11-03 09:02 PM

if you're using a string, why not just attach linkage like on the s4 engines?

BadAssRX-7 12-11-03 09:14 PM

i know on my turbo swap on my 83 im going to use a gsl-se front cover and omp and wire it up

its super simple to do. I have a series 5 engine, with a series 4 front cover and throttle body. the only reason I use an S4 throttle body is to connect the linkage to the mechanical OMP. its a simple parts swap. But if your motor is in the car it can be quite time consuming.

sorry to add
i am trying to make the omp work on my 20b
i think the throttle link won't line up right.
maybe have to use cable.....
