Exhaust Sensors

Ok, since my Microtech and engine will be in a non Mazda Chassis, I will be getting a custom down pipe made. Will I need to have a fitting added into the downpipe for an O2 sensor, or any other type of sensor for the Microtech?

Second question, should I add any other type's of sensors in the down pipe such as exhaust gas temp sensor or anything? What is recommended?

thanks
John

It's kind of up to you. Since the stock O2 sensor is pretty much useless and the Microtech does not have a closed loop function (to my knowledge) it's not neccessary. However you will at one point like to use a wideband O2 sensor, be it your own or one at the dyno. I would weld a bung into the downpipe for the future, you can always plug it if your not going to use it. As for the EGT it's up to you as well it's not imperitive but it might be nice to have. You can always plug the bungs if your not using them, and it's easier to add a few bungs now when your making the downpipe than it will be to remove the dp in the future to add them.

Do you think I used the word bung enough?:p:

hehe, you said bung....lol Thanks for the input, sounds like good advice!

I have my wideband bung on my midpipe, and it reads a bit different than in the stock location. (just a BTW)

So the lt-8 doesn't even have a wire for the O2 sensor?

will still have one in my car though. Goes to the a/f gauge.

Huh?

The LT(X)8 has a wire for a narrowband O2 sensor. The LT(X)12 does, too, unless you get the wide-range O2 sensor option.
