ERROR reading under HOM and RPM?
so after driving around doing my thing god knows how long iv had a red light on my unit, i plugged the hand controller up and saw error under HOM and RPM, i went ahead and pull off and turned off the car, started right up and didnt come back until 10 minutes after. got home let the car cool and checked for leaks etc. nothing.... ever since its never come back up... why is this? and what should i be aware of??

Your CAS wiring is messed up.
|
How'd you wire up the CAS?
|
just the way its on the diagram. im not seeing this signal anymore ever since that day, i did notice on the CAS harness the heat shrink slid off abit exposing the shielding wire so i covered it back up and nothing yet. im about to take a long drive and see if it comes back up,
BTW, where can i go to learn more about working my microtech like tweaking it to start up better when cold etc. you get my point. |
It would have been unshielded CAS wiring.
If you have fixed the shielding it probably wont happen again. |

no. just the shielding baby girl.
|
It's EXACTLY It Aaron. As you and rx72c mentioned earlier the CAS wiring Is NOT shielded resulting In this.
Periodically, I get these damn reminders and It all stems from not shielding the wiring yet. What provisions have you guys done for this? |
Getting a home and rpm error can mean both shielding and CAS wiring. having no shielding pretty much means your cas wiring is messed up.
|
Yeah, but If I am not mistaken one end of the shielding must be grounded In order to serve It's purpose?
|
Its grounded at the ecu if you look carfeully.ive seen people ground the other side and cause all sorts of problems.

For other ECUs I use double (or triple) shielded high quality Beldin microphone cord with an integrated current drain. |
I know it sounds a little dodgy but for the DIyers.
Were ever their is no shield on your cas wire. Get aluminium foil Rap it nice and tight and tape it up or heat shrink over it. THIS WORKS REALLY WELL. I have actually fixed a few haltech cars with the above trick. |
