emissions testing
Well, in about two hours or so, I am taking the car to get a prostate check, er emissions test. uggg, always a nervous time. But this year it is different. The microtech has me a bit concerned. Not so much the visual inspection since there really isn't one in georgia, but the tuning. I have an electric airpump that will be on durring the whole test, so the cat will be nice and hot, but ......
Anyway, wish me luck. |
BTW-I have the electric air pump set to turn on via RPM but was wondering what setting I might want to have for turning the pump on also with the vacuum signal (mainly for normal driving). Anyone know what the settings were for the oem computer?
Thanks |
Ok, well, I failed. Ugg. Oh well, there were a few things that I forgot I had set, such as 0 degrees of timing split and around 20-29 degrees of timing for the normal timing in the testing rpm ranges.
Talked to brandon and he gave me a few tips to lean the car out. Anyway, what you all have been waiting for, the numbers. air pump was injecting air the whole time of the test including idle. 25mph test (high speed, low load) HC Reading-659 Allowed-174 CO% Reading-6.32 Allowed-1.12 15mph test (low speed, high load) HC Reading-1018 Allowed-180 CO% Reading-10.41 Allowed-1.01 Would have loved to see my numbers without the cat on the car. |
if you lean it out your hydrocarbons are going to go through the roof more, you need to have it on a perfect 14.7:1 then throw 1gal dentured alky with 2gal fuel and you will pass no problems at all

See if you can't bribe the operator. That's my plan for if that retarded program ever comes to my part of the country.

the car runs at 13.0 on cruse? or on power??
you need at say 20inhg 14.7:! at 15 as close as you can get to 14.7:1 do this and throw some alky in the tank and you will pass no problems at all Dale |
whenver i put one gallon of denatured alky in my tank it only lowered the second number. it didnt do shit for the first number. also that was on stock computer so im not sure if it will affect anything or not. although it took my second number form not quite that high down to .02.

ok get the mixtures to 14.7:1 and then put the alky in the tank and see what happens,
im sure you will pass. Dale |

That should work, im guessing it is pretty much the same, just remember when the testing is done to drain the tank and fill it with fresh gas as the alky is corosive

Originally posted by Silver88GXL Okay, i got it leaned out a bit, not sure how much, need a wideband to tell. Also, couldn't find denatured alky so I got Isopropel. Will that work?? |
