elec fan diagram...will tis work?
 

I want to use the stock elec. fan along with my belt driven fan. I found this in an old post but I changed a bit.

Fundamentally it is correct.

I would recommend that instead of directly switching the relay with your manual switch, put another relay in parallel and switch it. I just don't know if the effect of switching the Microtech's output directly to ground would be a good thing.

what if I remove the switch, would that be better?
I don't need the switch just thought it would be nice to have.

I originally had a temp switch in there that provided a switched ground to pin 86. Since the MicroTech aux output does the same thing it will work fine. The switch should not affect the MicroTech at all since it's basically just two switched grounds in parallel.

The last thing I want to do is burn up my Mircotech because I wired something wrong.

are you trying to turn it on with the microtech and the switch?

the switch is pointless but I thought it would be nice to be able to turn the fan on when I want to.

That will work fine.

I would've though the MicroTech manual would have instrctions for wiring an e-fan in, since that's the sort of thing the aux output is for. Do whatever they say, which will be similar anyway.

the manual doesn't say much about installing a fan.
I wired it all up yesterday and it works great.

why do that? the stock fan is mostly not part of the engine wiring harness, and comes on at 207* F with its own thermoswitch.

Does the Microtech operate the fan when the ignition is off? If not, then you may want to use a separate thermo switch instead of the Microtech. Part of the reason why the electric fan is so great is because it can operate with the engine off. The mechanical water pump isn't circulating the coolant when the engine isn't running, but the fan can still cool down the system some.

no, microtech does not function at all with the ignition offf if wired correctly.

sorry for the bump...

but i would think the above would be a good reason to get a turbo timer. esp. if your have an oil cooled, only, turbo at the same time.
