does the OMP have to be remomed when the microtech is installed?'

hello i have an very intertesting question i heard the other day that when the microtecj ecu is installed on the fd the OMP(oil metering pump) has to be removed because the ecu can controlled so you have to dou pre-mix,i want to know because i want the microtech ecu.

thanks

str8ryd 10-20-06 05:00 PM

What you heard is true, the Microtech can't control the OMP. However, you do not "need" to remove the OMP. You could always leave it in, but just go ahead an pre-mix. Leaving the OMP in won't be any problem at all, it just won't work.

RotaryEvolution 10-27-06 02:55 AM

yep, you will need to premix the fuel for lubrication.

No experience with the 13bt-rew but couldn't you fit a mechanical OMP from a series IV 13bt?

Yup, I'd just take it out. Premix all the way.

The omp still works even without the ecu connected to it. It just don't give the proper amount of lubrication at high rpm/load situations so you must pre mix.

Really? I didn't know it still worked w/out an ecu connection.

Would you suggest leaving it in then or just taking it out all together? My cars all torn up right now and I can easily remove it, but I figured since it doesn't work it won't hurt to leave it in.

Any suggestions?

Just hijacking now - is this the case for the s4/s5 too? you'd have to premix the fuel with oil because the microtech cant control the OMP?

RotaryEvolution 10-30-06 02:58 AM

S4 is mechanical so it isn't affected by the install at all, s5 is very similar to the FD OMP so it will not function properly so i suggest removing it, i suggest removing it because the OMP lines tend to crack and fail as it is, simplicity is the best way to go.

str8ryd 10-31-06 07:38 PM

^Thanks! My cars gutted right now so I'm definitely going to have the OMP removed. Will I need a block off plate or anything else special to do the removal properly?

There is another choice. You can leave it inplace run premix fed to the MOP with one of these:

http://rotaryaviation.com/oil_inject...p_adaptors.htm

They have a mechanical override available to adjust flow. The flow will become RPM dependant. Instead of throttle and RPM dependant.

DP. Sorry.

G's 3rd Gen 11-01-06 05:12 PM

?? I dont think that accounts for all versions. I run the LT8S . My buddy runs the same. He is making 500 + and we never premix. We have a cumulative of over 10,000 miles on these set-ups G.

FD3S-K 11-09-06 03:42 PM

I have the microtech LT8s, and i just bought a BOP kit, and just removed the OMP...question is...what do i do to block off the oil "injectors" that go in the housings?

Srry for hi-jack

str8ryd 11-09-06 06:37 PM

+1, wondering the same thing.

Aaron Cake 11-10-06 09:06 AM

Replace them with a bolt.

james81 02-07-08 02:14 PM

Is there any other solution/alternative to running premix? No other devices?

rx72c 02-07-08 06:25 PM

Not running premix is not going to blow your engine. It will just increase the wear alittle.

If you have an FD stick the factory OMP back in and it will suffice. It injects at 20% at the minimum if nothing else is working.

myfc3s 03-06-08 10:08 AM

Just put an S4 TII front cover and call it a day!

rx72c 03-06-08 03:25 PM

or that. But what for.

james81 04-23-08 01:55 PM

So if i leave the stock omp in and just disconnected it still works at 20%.
So ill use normal fuel for daily use, but any racing or high revving ill just premix?

zeaone 04-23-08 04:49 PM

Just get adapter mentioned above run a good 2cycle and full syn oil in motor thats what i do just remember to keep resivor full

rx72c 04-23-08 05:19 PM

You can get the adaptor.

But like i said before. Running the OMP at minimum will be enough. For big power 4th gear power runs etc premix before hand.

james81 05-01-08 05:33 AM

So when running the OMP disconnected, can I remove all the wires powering the omp, and it will still inject at 20%?

rx72c 05-01-08 07:34 AM

Disconnected. It will still operate at a minimum.
