Does a Bad Alterator affect the MT?
My car started bogging on me today, and I have now Idea why. The only thing I noticed is my Handheld showed my Batt volts between 11.5-12.0. I'm pretty sure they where always in the 13v range.
Could charging problems affect the fuel delivery of the MT? |
fuel pumps are rated at about 13 to 13.5 volts. so if its not getting enough juice its not pushing enough fuel. best way to check is to put a voltmeter at the pump.
|
microtech likes to see 12.5 and above before it run good. mine does run kind of bad until the alternator kicks in.

I checked my alt today, and they said is working fine. I notice If I give it a good rev to 4500K it kicks in, but after driving for a bit it stops charging and the car leans out.
I'm wondering if i could wire a cable directly to the alt from an Igniton source so it starts charging when i turn the key?. |
When you installed the Microtech, what did you do with the two wires that connect to the back of the alternator? They must be connected properly for the alternator to function.

I read in one of your threads about switching the wires on the plug between the s4-s5. I'm running a S5 alt. Should I try switching the around? This alt was just rebuilt, and has about 80miles on it. |
The S4 and S5 have different connections, so yes, you would need to match the harness to the alternator. Search the 2nd gen forum for "FD alternator wiring".

Based on this
https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...hmentid=123202 for the s5 alt I should connect the L to the Microtech and the S to the Battery? |
BTW: Would'nt this be the same as connecting from the wire to the battery?

You have a pin thats closer to the passenger side, this is called S terminal. You have a pin thats closer to the drivers side, this is called L terminal. The S terminal has to go to a solid 12v such as the starter motor, battery. The L terminal must go to your charge light.(on a gen 1 this is the choke check relay). If you do not have a relay you must make one. |
