Crank, No start.

K, just swapped in a S4 T2 swap into my S5 NA using a microtech. I'm getting fuel, and getting spark, and timing is set at 5* ATDC for L1 but all I can get it to do is crank, fire, die. I'm still waiting on my controller. Any help would be good! I need this car running like 2 weeks ago!!!

There are many things that can cuase this problem. How's your wiring? Is it properly soldered? By that, I mean soldered with real electronics grade solder and a proper iron, then covered in heat shrink and then bound into a harness. No crims, soldering tape (YUCK!), etc.

ANY time I have seen this symptom, it has been due bad wiring.

If that checks out, then have you tried unflooding/push starting the car?

What injectors/fuel pump are you running?

This is also much easier to do when you have the controller/laptop interface, because then you can actually observe the engine...

Yea, my connections are good. I tried pull starting the car and i got it to fire so like 5 seconds, then when I put the clutch in, it died. I couldn't let it sit running like that since it was untuned.

I'm running 550cc primaries and 850cc secondaries with a walbro 255lph pump.

Hopefully my controller comes today. :(

So how's the compression on this engine? How well did it run during those 5 seconds?

driftedfc3s 12-13-04 12:12 AM

Compression is good.

Ran well for those couple seconds.

I'm pretty sure it's the wrong map on the LT8, so I'm sending the car up to Smokin Joe this week.

I did the same conversion s4 into a s5 vert. Had similiar problem. Depending on your type of injector, i.e. low imp or high imp. I have used both and there is diff. Low imp injectors you will need to lean the idle and load maps start taking away fuel about 20% in the load screen and 10% on idle. Or better yet go to your mixtrim and start taking fuel 10, 20, 30 % leaning. do not drive!!!! do this at idle!!!! The car should speed up as you take fuel out eventually your car will die. Now you know exactly how much is to much lean. I had to take away like 30% on my load and 20% on my idle to get my car run great and fooled around with water temp fuel map and air temp maps to finally dial it in. But this will get you started. One other question do you have fuel smell and black smoke?

Thanks for the advice, but I have given up. I've been without my DAILY DRIVER for too long. I sent her up t J&R Performance in Queens today (Smokin Joe Racing). We will see in a couple days the outcome...and a dyno sheet!
