Continuous problems.........

I got the car on the dyno today.

Wideband shows big time leaning out after 5kRPM regardless of what we tried with the injectors. Datalog showed the injectors at full open. A/F was fine before 5krpm.

Another odd point we ran into is that when we were messing with the secondary injectory rev%, it messed with the idle of the car.

In regards to the leaning out, it may suggest to check over the fuel pressure regulator. It would also apply to the injectors being too small I guess but the secondaries are 710cc and haven't had any problems for almost a year on stock ECU.

As for the the secondaries settings effecting idle and injectors showing full open, it may suggest something wrong with the wiring. The primarys are high impedence and the secondaries are low.

Any other suggestions?

What's your revstg and mapstg and %stg?

I'll try to post those numbers this afternoon

Also what are you boosting at? Because i have 1100cc secondaries and a nippondenso fuel pump...stock regulator though :( However i dont run out of fuel until i hit past 15 lbs. Then it starts to lean out...but nothing too serious, if it creeps only a lbs or two, i'll be ok. But if you're running stock boost then you should be fine.

Im boosting about 16psi.

Im using 680 secondaries and 550 primaries on a walbro pump. I dont suspect it to be a fuel shortage under the assumption the system is working properly because the car has been running fine with this setup for almost a year with no changes.

Ok, well i have bigger secondaries than you, and I start to lean out past 15psi, nothing severe but still.....I'm guessing the problem is your injectors.

You might be overworking your injectors too which could hurt them. You might want to pull them out and have the cleaned and tested. That's the cheapest and easiest thing you can do as of right now i think.

That's not a very good thing to assume... With your setup, especially at 16psi, I don't doubt your injectors had been overworked in the past. Thing with injectors is you won't know how long they will work properly at such high duty cycles until they stick open or closed on you. Try swapping in stock 550's if you have a pair laying around and see if that'll get things working for ya... Just don't let boost get past 10psi.

I had the injectors cleaned by RC about 14 months ago and then again before putting the Microtech in and everything checked out ok in terms of their functioning......... All work was done by RC Engineering.

Hmm, I'm not understanding your sig... Ported turbo ~> does that mean a hybrid turbo, or a stock turbo?

Do you have a screen capture of a datalog in text format to post as a jpg, or perhaps are able to send me a datalog showing your problem?

No, I ported one of the runners on the S4 turbo to match the other because ones smaller. Its still a stock turbo on a stock port engine.

Youre boosting 16psi on stock turbo with 680 secondaries? wow

I don't see what's wrong with that? 550/680 combo should be sufficient up to about 300bhp (260-275rwhp) @ 85% duty cycle. Most GSL-SE injectors actually flow more than 680cc however (more like 700-720cc), so I would say he has a very safe and efficient setup right there.

Although 16psi isn't a very good idea on the stock turbo.... lol

Ni5mo180SX 11-02-04 02:21 AM

Right, my thoughts as well. My 680's were rated at a flow rate of 710cc by RC as well.

As for the boost, the wastegates been thoroughly ported and I dont have a boost controller which im using to increase levels.
