cold start.. arrrg

I boughta car with microtech already installed.

Apparently the installer hates the thermowax crap and removed all of it.

Previous owner screwed around with teh idle so i set it back to ~1000rpm.

When its considerably cold outside, the car is a huge PITA to start.

BAC and all emessions are removed.

This is on a 91 jdm s5 tii.

I'm guessing my only recourse is to reinstall the thermowax/coolant to throttle body lines and hope that it still works.

I'm assuming there is no way to adjust the idle with the microtech as there is no BAC anymore : /

Describe the cold start problems you are having.

For example, excessive cranking and then just stalling out.

Yeah, unless your Microtech has the BAC option (don't even get me started on this right now...) then you will have to rely on mechanical means to get a cold high-idle.

Well, if the car starts, it idles at ~200rpm for a few seconds and stalls out. IT starts and stalls out continuously.

I usually have to hold the throttle just a tad and hold the rpms at ~1500 -2000 for 10-20seconds before she can idle on her own.

I have to take the upper intake manifold off so i'll take a look and see whats left of the thermowax pellet thing on the throttle body, hopefully ti wasn't removed completely and it was just the coolant lines.

Its starting to get warm out now wher ei live so starting it isn't really a problem unless there is snow/frost out :P

Serge, mess with the coolant enrichment maps. Is that Ryu's (BCRotary user) car?If so, I dont think he ever drove it in the winter hence it never had a cold tune. Just needs some fine tuning. You shouldn't need any BAC or cold start assist to get it started.
Can't your friend help you? How was he supposed to tune my car if he can't get it to cold start? :P

Sounds as though you need to increase the cranking percentage, the ASE and that are of the water table.

i didn't get the microtech dongle yet. When I get it i'll fart around.

Hard to tune/adjust your car when the ECU is innaccesible :P

Its starting to warm up down here so the cold starting isnt an issue anymore hehe

aha touche! I know what you mean, my FC fires up SO quick now. I also installed the BAC since it was easy and easy to setup.
Good luck
