Checking errors after they have occured?
 

Ok, so ive been poking around trying to figure out why I keep getting these erractic readings on my tach and loss of power. I checked, and the alternator wire was laying on the CAS wires. Thought I was probably getting some kind of interference there, so I moved it, even though my problem isnt constant. No fix. Went out to look at it again today. The CAS wiring was hanging down, probably only 1 inch away from the trailing spark plug. Thought this was my problem. Moved it. No problems driving it around for about 15 minutes.

Started happening again. Well I figured maybe the ECU is getting too hot. (in the stock FC location) Pulled up the carpeting, and looked, it was warm, but definately not hot. As im doing this, the car is running, and it has another hesitation/erratic idle/fart. Now I notice the red light on the ECU is blinking. A-ha, now I can check my errors. Turned the car off, came inside to look at the manual. How long are these errors stored? Until power is cut? If I am infact getting an error from the CAS, what is the best way to solve it?

Well, I checked things out, it seems im getting an error on the "home" and the "RPM" How in the hell do I track these down. Home I can guess on the wiring to the CAS, but the RPM?

both those errors means it is getting bad siganl from the CAS or interfearence from the altinator or plug wires or plugs them selves,

try some new mangecore wires, some NGK B9egv spark plugs and check the wiring to the CAS

The wires are new stock NGKs, as are the plugs.

I found out the hole on my oil filler that I was venting was leaking oil onto the CAS wiring, which ran down the wire and into the connecter.

So I just plugged the vent, cut off the cas connector and soldered the wires together.

No errors now.

Finally figured it out.. told you it was something screwing with it..

Fuck, theyre re-appearing again. Theyre not vehicle crippling though, its odd. Before the tacho would be jumping around and it would start backfiring. Its not doing that anymore, but the error pops up every now and then.

change your spark plug wires...

get some magnecore electrosports 80 and be done with it

Just the plain 8.0mm wires?

I can give them a try. Can you possibly dig up a part number of the exact ones I should try?

look up there website for the the *kit* that will fit your car,

these are the only leads i would ever use on a mazda, we use them on everything including 700rwhp cars

They have 7mm, 8mm, 8.5mm, and 10mm race wires.....
