Changing carb to EFI on my 12a help needed

Hi guys.

Ok so getting rid of the carb and replacing it with a tmw throttle body on my 1st gen. Reading about these ecu's I figure I can't just buy one from another member because of the internal specific map is that correct?

I will have to change to a cas system right?
What about ignition? Currently i'm running an msd 6al on a 2nd gen coil direct fire on leading. Do I change to the whole 2nd gen ignition or what options do I have?
I did read about the bosch coils but a little confused on how to go at it with what igniters.

Sorry about all the questions, it's my first time going into this type of thing and although there is alot of posts on this subject, not much for my type of set up.

Thanks,
Kim.

Another question, can't I just run a MICROTECH MT4 and be done with it??

You should have no problem getting a Microtech from another forum member. As long as it's configured to run a rotary it will be fine.

Yes, you will switch to the 2nd gen style ignition.

The MT4 is fuel only so it will also do the job if you don't want to switch ignition systems. In that case, the Megasquirt is a very good choice as well. Probably a better choice actually.

if you end up going with a microtech I can give you my map (matrix) from my 1st gen....assuming you are going to keep it n/a. You'll have to run the same size injectors for it to be compatible (4 x 550cc) and adjust the map on a mass scale for being a 12a, but it should definetly get you in the ballpark. 240 flywheel HP is what I got out of mine.

If your using 4X550cc injectors a microtech mapped for a 2nd gen 13bt will work no problems.
If you have different injectors, computer will still work but will need retune.
Also when you use a fuel and ignition computer set up for 2nd gen 13bt.

You will need to use s4/5 CAS and s4/5 Coil packs(leading and trailing).

I wouldnt go fuel only.
CRAP.
