Can't get air conditioning to work....
 

Well......someobody told my friend Peter (Big Woogie) that in order to get the AC working, you need to connect the blue/white and blue/orange wire on the harness. Well...we did that and now the A/C light comes on when I press it and the fan turns on as well, but the compressor is not engaging. Does anybody know what else I need to do?

That should be it, it got mine working. Check your cigar fuse that you didn't blow it while messing with the wires, it controls the AC.

I said F it and just pulled my working a/c out. Now I don't have ta mess with it when the LT-8 gets here.


I now have a working a/c just sitting around. The comp. is new too. Maybe I can put it in the 1st gen.

Out of curiosity, what did you do with the R-12, or 134a that was in the car? Did you completely remove the a/c system or just disconnect the belt? If you removed the whole system, I wouldn't have. If you ever decide to go back to a/c, it would have been a shame to waste the refrigerant, unless of course you evacuated it and have it stored. If that is the case, I will shut up now.

I wish I had A/C (my compressor blew out), since it really sucks to drive the car in the rain. When I get the money, A/C will be going back in.

Anyways, I got the AC working thanks to Black FC. I just cut the blue/white wire and blue/orange wire and tied them together and it works. I need to figure out a way to get the idle better though. My car idles with the AC off at 1100rpm and when I turn it on it idles around 770-820 rpm. What does the stock ecu do in order to compensate for the lag created by the compressor?

I recovered it using a recovery pump. I did not keep the R-12 though. I gave the pump back to my friend. he has a appliance store. Then I put adapters on the two lines that go to the comp. and brazed the lines shut. After that, I used the pump to suck the lines into a vac, via the fittings. Now, the comp sits in the shop sealed off.( Should never leave a comp that's been used, open. Well, that's if you want it ta work the next time you need it.

If I do try ta bolt it into the 1st gen, I will not use 134a to charge the system. A R-12 system will NEVER work as good as it should w/134a. Insted, I'll charge it w/ Hotshot.

I call BS. South Texas in the summer is hotter than Florida and almost as humid. I've spent time in both places. :)

I got the AC working now...just working on getting it to idle better. I'm wiring the valve on the back of the UIM into the 12v line for the compressor, so that it will open whenever the AC turns on. I tested it out and it works perfectly.
