can you tell me what's wrong with my map?

Ok I've got a hbp and T70 with 850primaries and 1600secondaries. I had a guy do a rough tune on it just because he wanted to but the problem is when I quickly press the gas peddle the afr goes down to 17 adn 21 (this is at idle) and then it recovers. I'm guessing it has something to do with the pump 1 stage? But I'm no tuner. Here is the map. Thanks

If it starts and dosnt want to idle.

Put +10 in the opt_mixtrm

And work your way from their.

rx72c 11-22-09 12:52 AM

Yes my staging settings are different.

If you want to use my map, you have to use the whole thing. Not sections of it.

ANd from what i can honestly see. Your current map looks really crappy, no offense.

Does your car idle well with your current map? If it does. I can blend the two maps for you and it should make it alot better.

hondahater 11-22-09 07:28 AM

The idle is actually solid, it's just a bit lean at 14.0-14.7. What I'll do is plug all your numbers in since I have this one saved. I'll see how it goes and if you don't mind blending the two just incase I would appreciate it.

hondahater 11-22-09 10:55 AM

What would you put in the values for screen 24 after 21psi if you have a 4 bar map sensor?

hondahater 11-22-09 11:07 AM

Your tune works much better! no more blips when stepping on the gas and no more lean idle. Only issue is it wants to idle super low, like 800rpm. Any advise?

ok I got idle to about 1300-1380 using throttle set screw and changing a bit on the idle map however when the fan comes on it drops to 1k. Is this where I use the Aux Fan add? It's at 0.14 10.43 29 5.19aS

rx72c 11-22-09 03:15 PM

It wants to idle low because its much richer on idle.

Put your idle map back in it. And it will idle well

Also put your old boost map back in from 6psi on wards.

hondahater 11-22-09 06:50 PM

Man I gotta say I wish I wouldn't have forgotten about the map you gave me. Your tune is great! I didn't change a thing on the boost map or the idle map. It's idling well at 1200 rpm and I tested it with a buddy in the car and really the only place it's lean at is partial throttle at 3-5rpm and it's creaping up to the 13.5's with that. Other than that boost is 10's 11's and the car feels strong at 18psi and water injection preturbo. Time to do just a bit on that range and it should be ok. Do you want me to change the load map still or should I be ok?

rx72c 11-23-09 04:35 PM

Leave it if all looks ok.

Over 20psi just make sure afrs stay in the mids 10s and youll be doing fine.

hondahater 11-23-09 05:31 PM

I think I may lower the opt_mixtrm from 10 to 5 or so just because it's running 10's flat even during cruising. You wouldn't happen to have any pointers on how to take out that little lean spike right around the 3k range? It's just an instant and at that time I'm only hitting about 2lbs of boost so I don't think it's a big deal but if I take out 5% fuel across the board then it may turn into a bigger issue.

rx72c 11-24-09 01:39 AM

Find out were in your load map the lean spike is and add fuel in that area.

Yes you can take fuel out of hte mixtrm. It will probably lift your idle up to.

hondahater 11-24-09 08:49 AM

looks like on the map you gave me for some reason right at 2psi (of coures I have a 4bar map sensor) you go from 2.86 to 2.2 and then back up to 3.2 as well as add timing at 6psi instead of take it away like on the rest of the boost range, is there any reason for this? Sorry for my ignorance...

rx72c 11-24-09 12:25 PM

6psi ~ -02

Not +02.

Fix that up.

Also.
make the 2psi cell 2.48ms.

hondahater 11-24-09 02:56 PM

I know you probably get tired of hearing it, but thank you very much!

hondahater 11-24-09 07:37 PM

ok fixed it up and actually in the microtech I put -2 and not +2. I must have made a typo. One issue is that I've got a 4 bar map sensor in my microtech so I've got -20 from 21psi to 41psi. Should I change this? my 4bar map timing is as follows:

30” ~ +04
24” ~ +04
16” ~ +03
8” ~ +02
0” ~ +00
2psi ~ +00
6psi ~ -02
9psi ~ -05
13psi ~ -09
17psi ~ -14
21psi ~ -20

Same all the way to 41psi

hondahater 12-06-09 07:21 AM

For some reason that lean spike is still there. Would it have anything to do with staging by any chance? It's just a real quick spike at 3.5k rpm.

rx72c 12-06-09 07:02 PM

That timing map is fine. Hold at it -20 all the way. Dont want to retard much more then that.

The lean spot can be staging but that would be load dependent. Not revs. Do a datalog on the microtech and show us here so i can see whats going on.

hondahater 12-06-09 09:49 PM

cool, will do. I'll drive the car to work tomorrow and get you the log. I wish I would have the wideband option for it but I don't. You wouldn't mind if I give you a log of that and a zeitronix log with afr, boost, rpm, and egt's do you? Not sure if you have the program but I can post a download link and it's a real simple program to download and install. Thanks man.

Trots*88TII-AE* 12-06-09 10:14 PM

if he's at 25 deg advance at 7500 rpm, and map correction of -20, and the pulley set at -5, he would be running zero advance, no?

rx72c 12-07-09 03:17 AM

That is correct.

You start off with that. And then pull it up to 2-3 degrees timing. Obviously at 20psi you can pull it to 6-7 degrees. But start safe and then go up. Not the other way around.

hondahater 12-07-09 03:30 AM

Just wanted to let you guys know I've got a racing beat pulley and I set it to the zero mark on the pulley.

Alright cool, I was just trying to make sure for myself that's what I'm reading. I always forget that these base maps are just that, a base, and still need fine-tuning. Thanks!

Then I would subtract 5 degrees out of every one of his t*RPM map, or whatever he suggests.

rx72c 12-07-09 02:06 PM

Yes. Do the above.

Youll probably end up putting it back in but start off safe.

hondahater 12-07-09 02:42 PM

Dang it feels strong at the timing that's on it but I guess it's better safe then sorry. I'll get you those logs today. It just finnished raining for about 2 days straight so I'm going to wait a bit till the roads dry up. When this thing gets on boost it goes sideways. I'd hate to see what would happen on a wet road :)

hondahater 12-07-09 08:16 PM

 rain again :(
