Base map too much fuel with larger injectors?

I'm trying to fire up my project car, just wondering if the base map the microtech has will over fuel the engine when i'm using 720/1600cc injectors. The computer i'm using is the LT10s, TII engine, KG parts fuel rails and 55 psi fuel pressure. The plugs are fouling very quickly with fuel, and just wondering if I should be changing some settings to get it to initally fire up.

thanks for the help.

Dan_s_young 08-24-08 04:40 PM

I dropped the fuel pressure down to 40 psi. Still wondering the same question if I have to cut back the fuel on the microtech in order to get the vehicle to start with these larger injectors?

good stuff mate.

Just a quickie, why in the t*rpm map is the timing "??" @ 7500rpm? is this an error?

its not an error
the microtech map dosnt have a map for 7500.

butcheryboy 09-02-08 06:11 PM

why is that? can you explain it clearer, I dont mean to sound like an idiot....but wot would happen if you put 25 so u'd get

7000-25
7500-25
8000-25
8500-25
9000-25

rx72c 09-03-08 05:28 AM

lol..

you know what, youve got me curious know.
i cant remember if the7500 map is their or not.
i know for suire the 8500map does not exist in the microtech, it jumps straight from 8000 to 9000.

butcheryboy 09-03-08 03:01 PM

haha...now that u mention it, i remember when tuning my car a while back my
lt10s in the WOTmap didn't have a 7500 map, it just jumped straight from 7000 to 8000rpm.

but yea im pretty sure the t*rpm has a value for 7500...

rx72c 09-04-08 05:38 PM

Id say if the rpm wot map dosnt have a 7500map then the t_rpm "should not" have the 7500map.
if you get a chance to check before i do. check it. im curious.

butcheryboy 10-02-08 03:34 PM

any further word on this? i havnt had a chance to check as i sold my car last week...

rx72c 10-03-08 07:06 AM

7000

8000

9000
thats how it is.

butcheryboy 10-03-08 05:18 PM

is that for WOT , t*rpm or both?

rx72c 10-04-08 08:03 PM

only t_rpm.

Dan_s_young 09-26-09 02:17 PM

using this map the car is still seeming to want to stall out after idling for a bit. Also if I blip the throttle it stalls out as well. Wondering if you have any tips?

Dan_s_young 09-26-09 04:15 PM

Ok heres a few more details at idle my afr is 12.0-12.3. As soon as any throttle is applied it leans out and I am getting about 14.0 and the motor stumbles. What areas should I start to adjust first to correct this? Just trying to get the car so its driveable so I can take it about a mile so its home.

The above will fix your blip on the throttle.

excellent thank you so much for the quick reply. I will let you know tomorrow how it works out!

Dan_s_young 09-27-09 03:47 PM

The car is running much better but heres a weird thing i noticed... I dont seem to be getting spark on the leading coil pack, wondering how this is even possible when the trailing is not even supposed to fire on cranking? I have the grey blue wire from the microtech hooked up to the pink on the leading coil pack, and the tan wire hooked up to switched ignition power. Under no conditions do I seem to be getting the leading pack to fire, but the trailing is working fine and even when cranking...

edit: also tested both connections at the connector going to the leading coil pack and both have constant power? If I unplug the leading coil pack connector while its running there is no change in how it runs. Im kinda puzzled about this.

rx72c 09-27-09 06:57 PM

Thats good that its running better.

Does it still not spark with the car on?

Id be changing the leading coil pack.

Dan_s_young 09-27-09 07:10 PM

It doesn't spark at all which is very strange because it shouldn't start than? I am going to try a different coil pack and I am thinking about checking that the wiring is correct into the microtech unit. It seems like the trailing coil packs are recieving the signal that is meant for the leading coils. I am almost completely positive the wiring to the coil packs is correct...

It just so happens I also have a spare coil pack sitting in the garage that I can try out.

Dan_s_young 09-30-09 01:05 PM

So an update, I found that the leading coil pack ignitor was messed up. Swapped in a new coil pack/ignitor and got the car running again. Set the timing, runs much better now!

Still I am finding that once I put the car into gear and try and move a bit the load causes the engine to stumble and stall out. Should I maybe be focusing on slightly adjusting the load map. It still seems to goto a lean misfire afrs go from 11.5-12 at idle and lean out to 14-15 when I try moving it a bit.

From what i can tell your "720cc" injectors are flowing more like 550cc injectors.

Give the above a go. See how you go.

Dan_s_young 09-30-09 08:14 PM

You sir are the best!

The car is now running like a dream! First time in three years I have been able to drive it. Thank you very much, the person who sold me those injectors must have pulled a quick one on me. :(
