backfiring and hard/no start
i have this problem that the car backfires on cranking and really loud to my ears are still ringing. if the car dose start then it seems like it is running on only one rotor then it stars running on 2 rotors. here is my setup have 550/1600 and have verified that the timming is set right. have pulled the plugs and cleaned them off. they were a little wet. cleared out the motor and nothing.

is the engine new rebuild?
probably abit low on comp. Looking at that map it should start no dramas. What port is it? |
the engine just got rebuilt 4000 miles ago with a large street port. do you think that 50% staging would have any affect on this because of the injector size difference?
thanks vince |
well i pulled the bonehead manover and thought that cleaning off the plugs was enough. it wasent. i put in brand new plugs and it fired right up. thanks to everyone.
|
Cleaning plugs does not work.
People never seem to understand that. When you flood plugs. GET NEW ONES. |
i learned that one. fought, and fought the car over fouled plugs. it sucked
but thanks for the help rx72c |
Being that you are running 550/1600 your staging should be around 85% . Put a new set of plugs verify you plug wires are correct , alot of ppl have installed them in the wrong plug . if it still does it it could be a bad coil , pickup .
|
i put in new plugs already and it started very well, but i will set the staging to 85. thanks
|
dont set the staging to 85.
The tune above should work fine. |
it runs preaty good right now on the tune above with new plugs. its off to the dyno to get tuned. thanks to everyone.
|
No worries mate. Im glad to help.
Another success with one of my maps.:) |
well i thought that i was all ready for the dyno but i checked everything and found a werd vac signal to the microtech. so i fixed it and know the car runs like crap. with the vas unpluged it runs way better. you think that it is a tunning issue. i just dont want to go to the dyno and pay for it then figure out that something else is wrong.
|
Do you know how to do a datalog?
Do a datalog on the microtech and send it to me and i can help. |
i got a log of it but i dont know how to post it up. also when i rev the engine it dosent seem like the mt timming is moving according to the log.

though personally i find some variance in "1600" injectors and also response differences between saturated and peak hold primaries i find i am between 93 and 98 % usually for these combos from the admin at micro forums -

so why is your staging value 50%??????? its because the map is bandaided in the higher WOT maps in the 2.5 D tune and because the car is almost certainly staged at any WOT so all numbers are set for the flow of 1600+550 , or 1600 + 1000 ( or whatever funky combo the source had ) IMO this shows a distinct lack of understanding by the original tuner it may work, but its all bandaids, and the staging shit pointless as it is basically running four on anything but idle --------- well i thought that i was all ready for the dyno but i checked everything and found a werd vac signal to the microtech. so i fixed it and know the car runs like crap. with the vas unpluged it runs way better. you think that it is a tunning issue. i just dont want to go to the dyno and pay for it then figure out that something else is wrong. unplugged = never will stage and run all the injectors ( it will never see 2 psi ) [ if your switch point is 2 inch hg instead, the opposite may be true also may switch in and out depending on atmospheric and MAP sensor calibration ] plugged in, it sees 1320 rpm just off idle, so any WOT movement will see the turbo boost and trip the staging with that 50% value in the staging, its adding 50% to the PWM BEFORE it stages ( ie the primary for that rotor is the bin value + 50% ) when it stages, all 2 injectors for that rotor run the SAME signal ( and the staging value is no longer added to the primary bin value ) BUT you have 550 and 1600 that is, say your asking for 1 ms on rotor 1 1 + 50 % = 1.5 ms x 550 cc= 8.25 cc fuel staging then happens 1ms + ( 0 % ) x 550 cc + ( 1ms x 1600 cc ) = 5.5 cc + 16 cc = 21.5 cc of fuel at the staging instant IE one second to the next at the stage point , 8.25 cc becomes suddenly 21.5 cc nearly 300% the FUEL FLOW THE INSTANT BEFORE since yours stages at any throttle movement above 1320 revs ( where the motor isnt really needing a lot ) it is pretty obvious to see why it runs shitty isnt it?? [ bare mind if switch point is 2 inch HG not 2 psi then the staging is reversed when vac line broken, ie 4 injectors always on ] sheesh FFS, read the micro site dont take silly maps from the net especially when you see the source at odds to the official website !! are the alarms ringing or what???? :wallbash: |
fine. you can help everybody here...
if someone needs anything. pm bumpstart. i couldnt be fucked for this shit anymore. |
