advanced tuning manual ?????
 

does anyone have a scan or copy of the advanced tuning manual for the microtech??

i dont see why these things are such a secret considering microtech only issue a 26 page basic tuning manual with there ecus :(:(:(

how many other standalone companies offer advanced tuning information for free? none.

the principles are the same for any tuning, with the microtech you just have to become familiar with the software and the differences tuning the rotary engine. with that you will be hard pressed to find someone willing to give it all out for nothing, most had to pay to learn it either through classes and extra time familiarizing themselves slowly(this still cost money for dyno time/fuel) or through popping engines the hard way.

i understand you may be locked in your location without support, buy some books and start reading and once you feel comfortable in starting take it slow.

its not the fuel or timing side of the tuning its the setup of things such as idle, cold start, air con compensation and all the Aux settings that there just doesnt seem to be enough info on

lol been to rotormotion before mate. they were ok . its running on a 300zx so not there specialty

LOL.. actually i did my first ( the first microtech unit sold to WA - from Dom's mouth ) in 1990 . -an analog D4s onto a 12at in an rx4-

ive been doing it like clockwork for many locals for about 15 years or so..often getting the ugly tunes the shop delivers and settle them down to be drivable

so you are trying to tune a 300zx engine?
and you need to work out the idle control?
there is different types of idle control valves, and the microtech is sensetive to operating various types
not really its forte .. all sorts of pain till you grab something it does like
.. earlier lt8 units liked the ford valve ,, but later ones can work the mazda valve ok when you set up the aux air min and max ms values up .not sure what the 300zx is using for a valve and cant comment or make input without a hell of a lot of suck see....like everyone else



i suggest you also tune with the lights on,, as they also lack the voltage compensation maps and you may find you actually fight two issues in trying to maintain the steady idle , night day, air con or lights and not

but here is the best advice -

you have a microtech... you are starting to see its limitations...
idle control,, consistency under various voltages , adequate amount of aux inputs/outputs . user setup/define , and quality support

.....are NOT its Forte ..............

for factory quality setup and niceness you need something like a haltech or a link /vipec or adaptronic ,, etc, etc , etc

and spend a LOT of time setting it up .....

for a microtech,, sometimes its easier to cheat by just using an air bypass valve ( on/off ) and swing it with either the ecu aux out.. or with the switch/s on the aircon and /or PS pump earthing a relay -

-- and regulate that air bypass amount with a fixed pill orriface ..... and then perhaps use the aux input to add a little fuel while this happens

thanks for the info. yeh im just about ready to give up on teh old girl actually , sad really as i ve spent so much time and coin trying to get it tuned properly 40+ dyno hours, not 2 mention sending it back to microtech when the map sensor was buggered.... off idle its great, on idle its just a pain in the ass !!

pitty no 1 really mentions that it doesnt have any voltage compensation earlier :(
