Hello All,
I have gone through all tech resources and seem to have issue getting my base timing set.
Car is a Rx7 1983 series 2 SA22c, I'm from Australia. The motor is a FC Series 4 13 b turbo motor. Previously had a Microtech MT4 with a dizzy and twin coils..Ran hard and fast, idled well and started 1st click. I know decided to install a LT10c with X4 igbt. I removed dizzy installed CAS lined up leading mark on pulley & CAS (dimple mark on bottom of shaft). Rewired installed 4 coils. Got the car to start. I noticed when I used a Timing gun the strobe light doesn't line up with the 1st mark. It lines up with a non factory white marking. I noticed previous tune shop marked the pulley with a white marking before the Leading mark(1st mark). The ECU has the timing check set 0degrees.I did try and lock the timing to both 0 and 5 degree's but still hovers around non Factory marking. The moment I try and move CAS to the left if facing it, the car will not hold rev, it is litterly at the end of the CAS adjustment...please see attached to assist with CAS and pulley alignment. Is it possible because a 12a timing case is used and timing case pin is not the same as a 13b FC timing case?
The CAS is locked in based on the previous wear mark of the 10mm bolt resides.
your assistance would be great..

Could be a bunch of things...

First, are you sure that the hub and pulley are for that engine? If they have been swapped around, the timing marks won't line up.

2nd, is your ignition output polarity correct? The CAS being at the far end of adjustment indicates to me that either the input trigger (CAS) signal wires are backards, or the ignition output polarity is set wrong.

Thanks Aaron, I will verify again in regards to CAS input trigger and wiring. Based on my understanding, the motor is a series 4 turbo. It's questionable pulley may not be original, I will confirm identification.
before removal of previous MT4 and 12a dizzy. I did line up the L mark and ensured the rotor button lined up to the L1 marking within the dizzy Cap, which it did.
The ECU was fitted to a series 6(FD)motor with a series 5(FC)CAS was in a sa22c.
I have attached drawings used to rewire car.
As mentioned prior, based on wear mark and motor response I lined up the timing to the wear mark on the cas adjustment nut.

Hello Aaron, i have re-confirmed the CAS is wired correctly, checked with an ohm meter to ensure correct pin outs.I also checked the input trigger and is configured correctly. Input trigger being +VE.

Based on photos of series 4 pulleys, it seems to look the same; i may look at trying to find TDC by turning the crank to the ~ 9 pm angle and review the pulley mark.

Is it possible to move the static timing from 0 degrees to another value? the current ECU value is 0 degrees. i setup all the maximum value of 32 degrees. I believe our beloved Microtech software can not go to ATDC?

Hi Team,

I have included my Microtech LT10s with IGBT x4 configuration/Tune file to assist the case.
Based on a visual; i believe the standard 550cc injectors are used (~red top)
3inch turbo exhaust, hi-flow series 4 turbo with T4 front cover and wheel
twin Bosch 040 fuel pump, surge tank, plazmaman 2.5 inch inter cooler.
series 5 CAS and 4x bosch coils. I would say mild or standard port 13B series 4(FC) turbo motor. Motor has the knock sensor holes above the trailing plugs.
i adjusted the tune to my best of my abilities with a wide band; runs a little rich and around 2k rpm; car bucks when on light load. i may need a driver and myself to tune via laptop :-) if all fails i may pass to a tuner; but i have tuned Microtech's in the past :-)
overall i would like to get the timing spot on. I reviewed the ignition wiring and is all spot on. My last resort is to re-stab the CAS out by one tooth.

please also review the tune file which was taken from the micro tech LT software,

I don't think it's possible to adjust offset on the Microtech, unlike every other ECU.

If the pulley/hub combination is unknown then it might be worthwhile to find TDC. TDC is when the eccentric keyway faces the port side of the engine. Then you can re-mark the pulley.

Or go to an aftermarket pulley.

this has been resolved, re-timed and ignored slight stutter to motor. timing now lines up at mark when timing lock is on at idel
