36-2-2-2 with MS3-Pro on FC

So I bought a used FFE trigger kit that came with the RX8 wheel. Is this still not fixed to work properly with the megasquirt on an FC? Should I just bite the bullet and order a 36-1 wheel?

On MS2 at least it was not possible, I ordered the 36-1 wheel. The old wheel makes for a fun ninja star to throw around

Doesn't sound like they have changed the trigger offset range so 36-1 wheel order it is...

36-1 wheel should show up today. Doesn't sound like the offset values have been changed enough to allow it to work on the FC with an RX8 wheel.....

Can't you just reclock it so that it works?

I plan on rolling my own by converting a 36-1 to 36-2-2-2 and mounting it to the backside of a Racing Beat pulley.

That's true but I didn't want to have to mess with it that much and the added resolution of only having 1 missing tooth is nice.

Why would you want to use the RX8 wheel instead of the 36-1?

In theory it should allow for more rapid bump starting, like if the engine stalls. Pop the clutch while still rolling.

This is the main reason why I still have a distributor in the first place (fuel only), restarts are very fast. A missing tooth wheel could require a full rotation of the engine before firing the ignition coils. Again, in theory, the RX-8 wheel would only need half a revolution at most.

That's a very specific use case but interesting none the less. As an aside I have an extra FFE setup with RX8 wheel and hall effect sensor w/ pigtail and CAS cap for sale if you're interested. I was going to use it on my 10AE project but the '86 GXL NASA racecar and my newly acquired EFR 7670 FD have taken all my spare funds as of late...
