ok guys what should i use for fixed advance on the rx8 5 deg or -5 like the fc .thanks

Are you referring to the pulley mark?
RX8 mark is 5 deg BTDC, FC is 5 deg after TDC. Best to double check with a timing light and fixed timing. I found I had some latency I had to trim out with "Spark Hardware Latency". That's with D585 coils though. |

On further inspection - I was wrong, FC and RX8 are the same. Mark is 5deg ATDC. The Mazda RX8 manual wording threw me "-5 BTDC" = 5 ATDC. I just confirmed this comparing an FC pulley to the RX8 trigger wheel marks and on my engine using Lynn Hanover's tube/oil method. The wheel mark aligns with the pin 5 degrees after peak fluid level in the tube.
